I dont see any way those bookends could be considered cherubs. They are simply gilted miserable abused crying babies.

Although from Wolff's description of him, Epstein did a lot of his decoration for shock value and sarcasm. Trump really likes this shit.
A couple of point from an earlier article on this room. The chess set pieces are custom made with the faces of some of the house staff on them.
Also, there is a life size black painted statue in a robe dangling over those stairs, I think in this room. Trump will have to add that to his decor.
