I had a cardiac catheterization over 10 yrs.ago after a heart attack which was diagnosed as tako tsubo or so-called broken heart syndrome.
The procedure was not bad. They said I wouldn't remember anything, but I did.
Didn't feel anything, though.
Sending you some calming vibes.

[disclaimer: I'm no doctor and I try and let my wife do the translating between English and Doctor-speak]

I had an angiogram after my heart attack many many years ago. At least for me, it was no big deal. They went in from my groin and imaged the heart and arteries. I was knocked out and don't remember much of it at all. If they discover blockages they'll often use the same procedure to insert stents (not needed in my case..).

On a uncomfortable scale of 1 to 10, it barely counted as a one. I hope you can say the same afterwards!

Good luck, hope you recover fully!

They asked if I wanted a sedative - said no. The catheter was inserted into my wrist (with the groin prepped for backup) which was only mildly uncomfortable. After than, felt nothing, including the insertion of a stent. Took about 15 minutes in all. Pretty easy.

Why are they waiting for your procedure? AFAIK it should be performed ASAP to minimize damage. Maybe they think the attack was not caused by a blockage?

I've met several people that had angiograms. Working in healthcare for many years, mostly older folks. By far, they were uneventful with good results. I even knew a guy in his 30's who had one on a weekend and was back in class on Monday. We were classmates in a military course. I remember thinking how amazed I was that he was doing so well so quickly. I'm glad your ok. You got this.

And your spelling intuition is on point.
Listen to the doctor (if they're a good one) and get well soon.

I had an angiogram 8 years ago, and it was not bad at all. They put me under, but I remember some parts of the procedure. I felt fine when I woke up.

The area around the stent has to heal and you need to take it easy during recovery. Do gentle PT under supervision if that is prescribed but do your best to not strain until things really heal.

Somehow, by all that vibrates on my wave length I survived and now have 2 stents.

The technology and medicines for this are extremely good nowadays...heal, follow instructions and do the cardio rehab program if they offer it...

I started light cardio in the rehab program about 2 weeks after my HT...

Keep at it, live long and prosper.

Peace, cayugafalls.

unexpected journey. My husband had an angiogram before they scheduled him for his transaortic valve replacement. He was not sedated and he sailed through it with ease. When they have your results, they will be able to pinpoint and determine the best and next steps to get you on your road to recovery! Please keep us posted. Thank you for letting us know. We care!

Our best vibes, wishes and prayers.
As for the Angiogram, pack to stay in the hospital if you're not there now. The Angiogram will identify how bad and how many blockages you have. In your condition, I would expect a trip from there to the OR in short order.
Not a sure thing, but you've already been diagnosed....

Have had a couple and just had to sleep off the anesthetic. They can do so much for heart attacks now and I promise you that everyone you deal with will do everything they can to give you the best outcome. These are well trained, caring people who know their stuff. You will be in good hands.

Best wishes going out to you!
