Less than a year after Elon Musk took the stage at the Conservative Political Action Conference in February, brandishing a bedazzled chainsaw to showcase the Department of Government Efficiency’s cost-cutting spree, the most significant cut was the agency itself.

Donald Trump’s DOGE disbanded eight months earlier than scheduled, Reuters first reported on Sunday.

“That doesn’t exist,” Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor told the outlet when asked about DOGE. “There is no target around reductions,” he added.

The first few months of Trump’s second term were dominated by DOGE, the agency headed by Musk with a mandate to aggressively downsize the federal workforce and slash government spending. But the failed agency seems to have accomplished little beyond sowing chaos.

Marketing is everything anymore, and it runs on personal data. All the better to manipulate us, my dear.

Musk walked away with pretty much the entire contents of any and everything in the US databases and the keys to keep going in for more at will. Despite the fact my fancy silver hat is at the cleaners, I have no doubt he could trace my posts on DU directly to my address if he wanted (or rather his hacker dudes) and could probably tell me the last time I bought shampoo.

My very humble opinion is that was his payment from Trump for making sure "we have the votes" for 2024. It was never about cutting waste and fraud. Not a single "fraudster" was arrested.

Honestly, I wish Biden had announced a big review of trump spending when he took office.

Whatever they claimed to be saving, remove 3 zeroes.
Now, adjust that by 4 because so many of those people had to be brought back.
Now, multiply that by, say, 0 8 because of the operational inefficiencies of having people redistribute assignments and take on things they weren't working on when they got axed.
The whole thing was a boondoggle run by people with no cost analysis knowledge, no operational acumen all under the auspices of a rich investor whose companies are not particular known for the cost efficiency.
It was all BS, and the background people in the administration are waving the white flag now because there are no results to show.

Musk is a soulless monster, make no mistake. He is a stone cold genocidal murderer. He likes to burn baby’s food and deprive them of medicine so they suffer and die.

It's pretty clear that the "cost savings" ruse was just that, something that provided cover while he cloned databases for his own "use."

DOGE's destruction may continue to cause the deaths of more people. We're going to have to keep reminding people of the horrific price the nation and the world paid for letting a bunch of rich white men illegally demolish agents, destroy careers, and steal data.

For years, the United States Agency for International Development had been the backbone of the humanitarian response in northeastern Nigeria, helping non-government organizations provide food, shelter and healthcare to millions of people. But this year, the Trump administration cut more than 90% of USAID’s foreign aid contracts and $60 billion in overall assistance around the world.

Programs serving children were hit hard.

They also delivered reams of private information about US citizens to tech bros to use to enrich themselves and manipulate the population.

Information on treasury accounts and other balances, possibly the assets themselves. How would we ever know? Who did they delivery that to and how much were they paid?
