It DOES feel like it's happening, and I'm so hopeful this time, but I've been here before.

I don't know, maybe she sees another future for herself away from politics? However this isn't happening because Chump's support is failing.
The fact that the House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly to release the Epstein files, THAT is the biggest sign that Chump's support is tanking. They have to face the voters next year, and they no longer believe that Chump can hurt their chances of being re-elected.

(1,988 posts)Trump surrounded himself 100% with sycophant grifters. None of them have any interest in Trump knowing the truth.

(75,353 posts)...who believes what he's saying. Serious delusion, there.
Someone like Miller says "Don't worry about those polls, our internal polling shows you're the most popular president ever." & he believes it.
So, he now says it as true because he's gullible & desperate enough to believe it's true.

(12,323 posts)Trump's inner circle is reinforcing the delusion that he's beloved and the public approves every awful move. Fox News certainly defends him with pretzel-like logic and the right-wing, online echo machine does the same. Then there's his cognitive decline which despite the boasting is profound.
The people around Agent Orange are desperate to keep the farce going.
The problem is the sinking approval numbers and the economy getting worse by the day. And the Resistance, too--in the streets, the courts, the halls of Congress.
The push back is working and the fracture lines are getting bigger.
I sense we're approaching a crescendo of some sort. What comes after is the real question, particularly as we get closer to the midterm elections. Even MTG can see the writing on the wall.

(1,988 posts)It is Rassmussen and some others that are always the outliers.
If Fox has him at -17, that's a huge problem for Trump. One of the problems with the -17 is that's pretty close to the level that Dems are over-performing in just about every election this year. The elections we're winning are blowouts, and the ones we're losing, we are over-performing by 15.5% according to this analysis:
https://dccc.org/democrats-are-overperforming-in-special-elections-at-historic-numbers/
To date, Republicans have been unable to disentangle themselves from Trump. This week's moves on the Epstein vote is a very clear signal that Republicans like Thune have figured out that they MUST separate from Trump or else they will get wiped out next year. Notice how Johnson attempted to carry Trump's water, pleading for changes to the House bill that Johnson was unable to stop, but Thune swatted him away.? Thune wanted no part of that. Thune figures the House is already lost next year, and he wants to make sure he doesn't also lose the Senate.
So, I'd suggest the Fox poll is actually a very good indication of how we can expect to over-perform versus 2024 results. Trump is not going to become more popular, so it now comes down to how effectively Republicans can separate from Trump.

These affect huge numbers of the MAGA cultist.

(3,268 posts)But, Senators and Congress members are a different story. It does impact them. There is a reason the Senate did not object to releasing the Epstein files or ask for amendments. Nobody want that on their watch.
