Sen. Elissa Slotkin tells NBC News that Capitol Police are now with her 24/7.

"We've had hundreds and hundreds, if not closer to 1000 threats come in to our phones, our emails" since Trump threatened her and other Democrats.

Trump labeled her a ‘traitor.’ Now this Democrat says she’s getting 24/7 security

Slotkin, a former CIA analyst, said Capitol Police ramped up her security following Trump’s posts during an appearance on MS NOW, formerly MSNBC, on Thursday.

“Capitol Police came to us and said, ‘We’re going to put you on 24/7 security.’ We’ve got law enforcement out in front of my house. It changes things immediately, and leadership climate is set from the top. And if the President is saying you should be hanged, then we shouldn’t be surprised when folks on the ground are going to follow suit and say even worse,” Slotkin said on “All In with Chris Hayes.”

She said Trump’s posts “fundamentally changed our security situation,” but emphasized that she is not afraid to continue speaking out.

“He is trying to use fear as a weapon. He’s trying to distract us from whatever. He doesn’t want to talk about the Epstein files or whatever else, but he’s also trying to intimidate people out of criticizing him. That’s the entire game here,” Slotkin said.

“And then he’s trying to intimidate people in his party to keep quiet even when he does things that violate our norms,” she added.

Stochastic terrorism.

"Stochastic terrorism is the use of hostile and dehumanizing public rhetoric to incite violence, which happens at a statistically probable but unpredictable rate. Influential figures can use this method by demonizing a person or group, which creates a climate of fear that may lead an individual to commit a violent act, while the speaker remains insulated from legal responsibility because no explicit order was given."
