Strategic partnership between Russia and Venezuela goes into force

Russia and Venezuela have entered into a strategic partnership intended to expand their cooperation in the areas of energy, mining, transport and security.

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the agreement, thereby bringing it into force, the state news agency TASS reported on Monday.

"The agreement takes Russian-Venezuelan relations to a fundamentally new level and covers all important areas of bilateral cooperation," said Russian Parliament Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin.

Putin and Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro agreed to move ahead with the strategic partnership during the Venezuelan head of state's visit to Moscow in May.

3. I think we are seeing the rise of Cold War 2.0

Putin is establishing influence in Central and South America, Africa and in Asia. Along with China, India, etc.

Meanwhile, Trump killed off food aid that got us influence in some nations, eliminating aid, antagonizing our allies, etc. By the time he's gone, I think we are going to see a very much realigned world. Instead of two super powers however, it will be multi-polar, which will make things very difficult as you are not focusing on just one alignment.

But hey, we will have that gaudy ballroom...
