Which catastrophe will be worst for the Caribbean

Melissa or Donvict?
The optics this week - the largest warship and slaughter of our people versus a major catastrophic hurricane will speak volumes.
Hurricane or war?
That is all

I was once a Girl Scout - be prepared.
Just took down all the drapes and curtains just in case.
This should be over in about 60 hours.
At my age, this will probably be my last experience with a major one - they are rare here.

Jamaica: Seek shelter now. Damaging winds and heavy rainfall today and on Monday will cause catastrophic and life-threatening flash flooding and numerous landslides before the strongest winds arrive Monday night and Tuesday morning. Extensive infrastructural damage, long-duration power and communication outages, and isolation of communities are expected. Life-threatening storm surge is
likely along portions of the southern coast Monday night and
Tuesday morning.

But the week after this? Who knows?

In the olden days a ship in the area would mean extra medical care for those hit by disaster. Sending thoughts for the delivery of medical supplies. I wouldn’t let too many of them on shore but take the goods if they offer! What a crazy world we live in. Love hugs and more love to you and yours. 💗💗💗🙏🏼

And it looks like Guantanamo Bay is right in the cross hairs too.

They have to essentially steer clear of the Caribbean or there may be a Captain Queeg thing going on.

Hoping for the best for you and your island!

for no valid or even verified reason by my - krasnov's government and the terrorization of brown and Black people are the two things in the moment that emotionally strike me so hard I can hardly express the rage and anguish these acts awaken in me.

I think that's the worse thing you're facing Malaise, because the hurricane is Nature (although nowadays it's also worsened by the bad acts of humans), and if it is going to happen, it is. It's easier in my opinion to deal with disaster in that context because it's not directed at you, it's not malevolent, it is simply Nature.

This other shit? It does not have to be this way.

In a weird way it's like the difference between Bekah dying in an accident as opposed to her being run over by an impaired driver who didn't even leave a skid mark as she left her side of the road, dragged her body down the street, and sped away as her victim bled out in the street.

(hug) Be as prepared as you can. I'll be looking for you on these pages, and sending all my positive energy your way for you and everyone in Jamaica and all the affected areas to be safe. and Stay safe

The outer bands are just starting to hit in Kingston. It's moving really slow. Flooding is going to be catastrophic. Mudslides devastated WNC after the rain.

The wind is going to blow the vegetation into what's going to look like a huge tossed salad.

If the island is destroyed it will already be close enough to going through a war.

Why add insult to injury? But if anyone can get that done isn't it the rotten mango?

Tuesday Melissa outlook.

(@2diamondeyes.bsky.social) 2025-10-26T16:27:46.108Z

Jamaica, in particular, will likely suffer catastrophic impacts from now rapidly-intensifying (but slow-moving) Hurricane #Melissa. A *Category 5* landfall now appears to be the most likely outcome, & 30-40+ inches of *additional* rain in mountains will lead to extreme flooding.

by and large avoid any opportunity to go in depth about the sordid history of the US in Central America, South America and the Caribbean and our use of our military and spy agencies for constantly meddling in the affairs of other countries, originating and supporting coups, support of dictators, suppression of land reform efforts, military attacks, support of guerilla groups like the Contras, support and training for committing human rights abuses including torture and the list goes on.
