My mom showed up at my brothers with 2 flat tires. She did not know she was driving on flat tires, or when they became flat. She was no longer safe driving. My sister borrowed her car and then someone else borrowed it until mom was gone. For the safety of her and others on the road, we had to do it.
We need to get his keys, he is not safe driving the country.

(6,337 posts)I never had any control over him. Nor would he listen to reason.

(27,468 posts)We tried to talk him out of the keys ,even took them ( he had spares )
He threatened to move in with whoever took them away
we discussed it among us , and my late brother spoke with his Dr . She referred it to the DMV/ Highway patrol .
They wrote him and required him to take a driving test , and that was that. They took his license . Then we drove him wherever he needed to go be , or go , or just did his shopping for him . He was 92 .
He didnt have any accidents or tickets , but we realized if he did cause an accident and we were aware of his driving , we would all be held responsible too.
He did live to 98 3/4 yrs but not happy at all at losing his wheels . He brought it up all the time .
I ended up with his car , and am keeping it until the wheels come off
He loved that car .

He's not a client. He's the business owner.

(10,545 posts)He was 84 and every inch of his car had a dent in it though he claimed to never have had an accident. So the family took the keys and car away from him. But we found out a few years later, after he died, that he had another car no one knew about that he kept in a rented garage along with a boat that he used to go fishing. My Dad used to lock up his ladders with chains and a padlock because if he didn't Grandpa would come while Dad was at work and steal the ladders to do roof repairs.
