NEW: DOJ announced Friday that it will send election monitors to polling sites in California and New Jersey

https://www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/trump-administration-to-monitor-voting-in-california-and-new-jersey/

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced Friday that it will send election monitors to polling sites in California and New Jersey — a move that Democrats and democracy advocates warned may be a potential step toward the Trump administration seizing control of voting.

The administration’s consistent use of DOJ to advance President Donald Trump’s political and personal interests, along with the locations chosen by DOJ, are raising serious concerns that the move aims to advance Trump’s bid to increase his power over elections.

Already in recent months, voting rights advocates and leading Democrats have warned that the administration is laying the groundwork to deploy troops or law enforcement to the polls in key cities next year and in 2028.

Friday’s announcement has intensified those fears.

Either vote by mail or better yet, take your completed ballot to a drop box. These Feds have no business inserting themselves into our state elections but we certainly have the capability to minimize their nonsense.

California and New Jersey should ask for United Nations election monitors.

On a good note, Trump may be tipping his hand well before the 2026 mid-terms.

It's the conspiratorial Republicans who don't trust mail in ballots and tend to vote in person, so they will welcome that crew.

I completely trust mail-in voting, but it feels more like an event to me than if i do it while watching a game on TV. My wife usually makes me get dressed up to go vote and everything - lol.

You have to get credentials to approach anyone inside or within 100 feet of a polling place if you are not there to vote. If these "monitors" interfere at all they will be,ushered out by local police.

Hegseth doesn't dispute the existence of a memo planning for the establishment of a "National Guard response force that's gonna be trained in crowd control and civil unrest and deployed in all 50 states by April 2026."

National Guard thugs scaring voters away from polling places? Seizing ballots and voting machines? Something else?

And they’ve been received and counted. Only a few like going to vote on Election Day. My husband is waiting until then and they’ll have the hardest time denying him his vote.
