Reminder that they claimed this project was exempt from review by the National Capital Planning Commission who has statutory authority over capital projects. Reminder that his first weeks in office Trump dismissed the board of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation which oversees our National Historic Landmarks, NRHP sites, and oversees Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. Without a board quorum its impossible to administer and make decisions. Reminder that the federal government is still on furlough which includes NPS staff who oversee and administer our historic sites and Heritage Documentation programs.
This is by design. The object of power is power. Now you begin to understand me.

Just came out that he might have to have double hip surgery. Tell me what doctor will take that on at his age?
He admitted that he is in severe pain most of the time. (Good.)

Bite my tongue, bide my time
Wearing a warning sign
Wait 'til the world is mine
Visions I vandalize
Cold in my kingdom size
Fell for these ocean eyes
You should see me in a crown
I'm gonna run this nothing town
Watch me make 'em bow
One by one by one

You should see me in a crown
Your silence is my favorite sound
Watch me make 'em bow
One by one by one
One by one by one
Count my cards, watch them fall
Blood on a marble wall
I like the way they all
Scream
Tell me which one is worse
Living or dying first
Sleeping inside a hearse
I don't dream
You say
Come over baby
I think you're pretty
I'm okay
I'm not your baby
If you think I'm pretty
You should see me in a crown
I'm gonna run this nothing town
Watch me make 'em bow

Watch the David Letterman interview with the two if you can. They showed a screen where Finneas told how Billie did 87 takes on a particular phrase before they could choose one they were satisfied with.

(27,411 posts)The President of the United States cannot make major structural changes to the White House without congressional approval at least not if those changes involve federal funds, historical preservation, or permanent alterations.
Heres how it breaks down:
⸻
🏛️ 1. Ownership and control
The White House is federal property, maintained by the National Park Service (NPS).
Its not the presidents personal residence its a public building and a national historic site.
Any structural, architectural, or historic changes fall under federal preservation laws.
⸻
💰 2. Funding and approval
Congress controls the budget. Any construction, expansion, or major renovation must be funded and approved through congressional appropriations.
The president cannot unilaterally allocate federal funds for construction.
Example: Trumans major White House reconstruction (19481952) was authorized and funded by Congress.
⸻
⚙️ 3. What the president can do
The president does have leeway for:
Cosmetic or temporary changes (furnishings, paint colors, décor)
Private funding for small non-structural updates, as long as they comply with NPS guidelines
Security-related upgrades, though even those usually involve congressional notification and oversight
4. What the president cannot do
Add or remove major structures (wings, floors, extensions)
Demolish or rebuild without approval
Ignore the National Historic Preservation Act or Architect of the Capitol oversight
Cant vouch for veracity
But who is going to stop him ?

(27,411 posts)Weve received a lot of questions about Trumps demolition of the White House East Wing.
Heres how the process is supposed to work:
1. Initial Proposal: The White House is managed by the National Park Service (NPS) but used by the Executive Office of the President (EOP). Any proposed change, even by a sitting president, begins internally through the Office of the Curator and the White House Facilities Management Division.
2. Historic Review: The NPS, as custodian of the White House under the Presidential Residence Act and National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), must review all alterations for compliance with Section 106 of the NHPA. This requires assessing potential impacts on historic and cultural resources in consultation with the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) and the D.C. State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO).
3. Planning & Environmental Oversight: The National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC) evaluates all major federal projects in the National Capital Region, including work on the White House grounds, for design, planning, and environmental impacts under NEPA (the National Environmental Policy Act). Public comment and design reviews are part of that process.
4. Aesthetic Review: The U.S. Commission of Fine Arts (CFA) reviews and advises on the design and appearance of any exterior modifications to the White House or its grounds.
5. Final Authorization: After approvals from NPS, NCPC, and CFA, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the White House Chief Usher / Facilities Management Office finalize funding, scheduling, and logistics.
Only after completing this full process could any major construction or demolition legally begin.
Yet Trump ignored every step, acting unilaterally through executive order, bypassing oversight, and ordering demolition as if he were a monarch. The result: the peoples house, altered without the peoples consent.

What the U.S. Government has now, is the largest Crime Syndicate the World has ever known........
You ain't seen nothing yet folks, ............this has All been being planned for quite some time..........
It is a set up for Master Grifting.........
If he invites people to dinner at Mag-a-Grifto, those attending pay a BIG, per-plate price which goes directly to Trump's account, AND he has to pay all expenses and costs for the dinner, including food......
This ball room will seat countless more than Florida, (4X? 5X? 6X?) the attendees will personally pay Trump a big per plate "donation" for a dinner invitation at the White House, and since it is a White House Affair, the TaxPayers will pick up the entire costs and expenses, including dinner along with all the additional security.......
By the time he is through, he will pillage and plunder the entire U.S. Treasury every chance he gets...........

(1,311 posts)Although The White House was designated a National Historic Landmark on December 19, 1960, it is one of the three National Historic Landmarks exempted from The National Register of Historic Places. Section 107 of the National Historic Preservation Act of October 15, 1966 states:
Nothing in this Act shall be construed to be applicable to the White House and its grounds, the Supreme Court building and its grounds, or the United States Capitol and its related buildings and grounds.
