(3,886 posts)Not one of them even pretended to fight for Palestinians' rights. This "peace plan" should have been a non-starter and instead will now serve as precedent in future negotiations. If there are any of course, which looks doubtful now. Why bother with "peace" when ethnic cleansing has been the goal all along and is finally in reach??
But yes, I think they all put on their game face and performed. So demoralizing.

(6,572 posts)Netanyahu was under massive pressure regarding the remaining hostages, and the IDF was making no progress on that front and was, in fact, taking heavier than expecting casualties in their new offensive. Netanyahu knew he couldn't free the hostages without a ground offensive, and the IDF ground offensive was stalled again in Gaza City. With the hostages free, Netanyahu is free to bomb at will without risking more troops.
Trump thought he could make a last minute push for a Nobel Prize. Hamas wanted a ceasefire and the aid blockade to be lifted. That was the extent of all of it. There is no Peace Plan. There was a temporary deal for the exchange of hostages and aid.

(3,886 posts)I may have missed it, but I don't recall you saying Israel should stop killing people if it wants a ceasefire.
For that matter, I've seen no such conclusion from Israel's supporters after the IDF killed 11 members of a family in a vehicle including 7! children - SEVEN KIDS and 3 women. For crossing some imaginary "yellow line" and striking fear into the hearts of the brave IDF many kilometres away.
But only IDF casualties matter. Palestinian civilian and kids' lives are cheap. And for certain, some people want to see the genocide reignited and will find any excuse, even if they have to lie:

(37,627 posts)If true, that would count as a ceasefire violation.
AloeVera
(3,886 posts)Do you consider the killing of Palestinian civilians and kids a ceasefire violation too?

(23,518 posts)Their headline covering this violation of the cease fire was, "Trump's Middle East Cease Fire passes first test."
So yeah, violating the cease fire was the first passing of the test of the cease fire holding according to CNN.
Israel has no plans to stop boing Gaza, they will not stop until there are zero people left living there.

Didn't take long for that peace deal to fall apart!
