(98,284 posts)I counted roughly 75 which surprised me. I did talk to a couple who came down from Greenville and one lady who is moving here from Colorado. Not sure what the press will say but there were several people who looked like they had been rumpers up to some point in the recent weeks.
I bought a roll of survey ribbon, yellow, and passed out long strips for people to put on signs and use as armbands and such.
There were over three dozen marches in Maine this time, about twice as many as in June... Had to go to Bangor for that one.

I took the bus rather than drive and practically everyone on that bus was headed to the rally.

(182 posts)The whole county population is about 8000 but the county seat is a town of 480. A very red county. No Kings today was counted at 647 of us, compared to about 160 back in June. Only a few rednecky type detractors - lots of positive energy. My wife and I did makeshift froggy costumes, dressed in all green with green ball caps where we added big glue on googly eyes. Honor to the Portland Prince, the Warty One, the Great Amphibian, The Green Inspiration.
Favorite sign I saw was a lady near my age (78). "Too much shit for one sign!"

(42 posts)I'm thinking there was4,000 to 5,000 people out today. Corvallis is a University town with around 60K population.
This rally was the double of the size of the last No Hands protest back in the Spring.
Great signs, Great energy!
Inflatable chicken outfit with sign: I didn't cross the road for a king!
Several signs: I was not paid to protest, I hate Trump for FREE!

3,000 in Greensburg, Westmoreland county (police estimate)
500 in Grove City, Mercer county (attendee estimate)
250 in Mercer, Mercer county (attendee estimate)
These are all pretty red areas.
3,000 in State College, Centre County (Centre Daily Times estimate)
Centre county is a bluish purple dot in the "T".

(3,076 posts)The protest was the 13th in South Dakota for the day, organizer Craig Brown with Indivisible 605 said. Protesters gathered to listen to speakers, display homemade signs and chant this is what democracy looks like and we love America; thats why were here, and call for President Donald Trump to go.
The counter protest in blood red South Dakota drew about 30 people.

(3,076 posts)They began at noon in Sioux City, Nebraska, and ended at the Sioux City Public Museum. The one-hour rally featured performances by the Mount Zion Baptist choir ensemble, Siouxland native American dancers, and Iowa Rock n Roll Music Association Hall of Famers. The majority of the protesters who attended were expressing their opinions on the current Trump Administration and ICE raids.

(3,076 posts)Despite uniting under the "No Kings" phrase, protestors had a variety of reasons for coming out.
"People's rights to criticize the current administration are being trampled on," said Mike Schweiger, of St. Charles.
The GOP is totally out of touch and they are coordinating their lame responses.
Statement from U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst:
"Shame on the left for focusing on sowing chaos ..."
Aint't nobody sow chaos like the republicans did on Jan. 6. Shame on thee.

(3,076 posts)MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) Hundreds took to Minots main drag Saturday as part of the nationwide No Kings protests.
The demonstrators gathered around 2 p.m. in front of the Town & Country Shopping Center, holding up posters and American flags.
Motorists beeped at the protesters in support as they drove by.
Again, the GOP response at the end is lame. Yawn.
ON EDIT: Bismark ND. Biggest crowds yet. GOP response, lame.

(13,544 posts)Hawaii hadn't started yet, either. Lots of people didn't register, but they turned out. Add to that those who drove by honking their support--so many!

(17,056 posts)outnumbered the thumbs down/middle finger wavers (3 where I was).
Yes, there were cars with drivers and passengers who just looked straight ahead not wanting to get involved, but there were close to as many that showed outward support by honking, waving ans giving thumbs up
pandr32
(13,544 posts)By far the people driving by were smiling. waving, honking, and here--throwing shakas (on the mainland probably thumbs up)!
The faces and noise were joyous. It was like fresh air and a huge dose of that hope and change Obama used to talk about.
Unfortunately, we will now have to take that new encouragement and resolve and suffer through Donald's revenge. I think he will tell his little puppet, Mike Johnson, to hold the line. After all, it isn't just the Epstein files he is afraid of--it's impeachment or any attempt to remove him.

Hey Joe
(269 posts)So we attended the protests there. It was an awesome crowd of over 3000 people I am hearing. Car horns blaring from the street and what I thought was cool was even though there is a city ordinance against trains using their horns in city limits, at least two trains that passed by laid on their horns as they passed.
The crowd really loved that!
It was a great time and everyone was kind and very happy to be there.
