No Kings field report (received 2nd hand)...Upstate NY.
My wife just got home. I was unable to go because of illness.
She went with 3 other women.
Upstate NY, small city.
1200-1500 people there. Double the size of the crowd for the June No Kings.
No violence. Frog outfits, amazing signs.
There were several volunteers there giving suggestions. One of those suggestions was not to engage with agitators.
Shirtless guy in a pickup drove up and down the main drag yelling at protesters. Trump is God, etc. Not one soul engaged with him.
Several undercover cops in crowd (wife's brother is undercover, so she knows how to recognize them).
One of the women who my wife went with...her daughter works for either DCAA or DCASPRO. These are accountants for the Government. The daughter was furloughed with no pay. Her daughter in-law, however, is a border patrol agent in Texas. In contrast, as a border patrol agent, she is still getting paid, and she is getting paid more than normal. Sounds like they are incentivizing border patrol agents, while not paying other Government employees.
A lot of costumes and dancing.
Street smelled like weed.
Everyone was happy, no bad vibes.
A man had a lab retriever there, and that dog fell in love with my wife. Dog was leashed, and he stared at my wife the entire time and tried to follow her wherever she walked.
All in all, a good time.
