SE Portland Rally

Not the big one: That's downtown later today.

This was a neighborhood rally organized by a group that protests on the corner of Woodstock Park every day at rush hour.

Today's rally started around 10:00am, and it was still going on when I left at about 11:20. Both sides of the street north of the park were 2-3 people deep with protesters. More protesters spilled down the street past the park at least four blocks on the west side and at least two blocks on the east side. (If you know SE PDX, it was SE Steele street, from SE 51st Avenue to at least SE 44th Avenue, possibly all the way to SE 42nd.) The street was clogged with cars honking, bikes ringing their bells, and people just walking down the street trying to see and read all the signs.

I'm terrible at estimating, so I won't try to say how many might have been there. But if it's a sign, then the downtown protest is going to eclipse the previous number of 50,000! It's a good day for democracy!
