Ill go first:
Small town Cheboygans Michigan. Went red Trump 70% in the last election- town of just 4,800 people, and we had 150 turnout up today at our first ever No Kings event.

(5,386 posts)100 attended on a roadside, pop. 8k in a 55k county that was 77 percent Trump.
And it is a bit weird attending as I plan to emigrate to a place that actually has a king, albeit one bound to behave on every day of his reign like Mike Pence on his One Good Day.

(277 posts)I got there early and I'd say at least 1,200 or more were already there lining both sides of the main street through town and more people were still arriving as I left. Very peaceful and energized crowd! This is in a town of 30,000 population.
I have pics but don't know how to post them....

(6,732 posts)I estimate 500 people (certain that it was at least 400) in a town of population 8000, sandwiched between the San Francisco bay area and the more conservative central valley. It's a one-stoplight town along a major truck route. Lots of truckers beeping, whole lot of cars beeping enthusiastically . Much more so than previous protests. Only a couple middle fingers, way fewer than last time.

I'm guessing about 3000, maybe more. Many inflatable mascots, a 10-foot-high Lady Liberty puppet, lots of drums, rattles and other percussion instruments. It was a friendly and peaceable group. I saw no sign of MAGATs.

(114,815 posts)Between 5 and 10,000 people would be my guess. A lot of BabyBoomers but some Millenials and youngsters as well. People on bikes, people with kids, people with dogs. It was rather festive.

(5,168 posts)Went to Saratoga Springs. Huge turnout. Way bigger than the one in June.
The march in June was great! Estimated 1,500 No Kings in the parade. Channing No Kings the whole route on Broadway. Thanks to Joe S. for organizing!! Go Saratoga.
Deep State Witch
(12,345 posts)Had about double the protestors that we did back in June. Lots of excitement. Only 3 middle fingers, and a couple of cars revving their engines. A multi-generational crowd - including at least one 3-generation family. Best sign was a baby with the sign, "I can't believe I've been dealing with this BS my whole life!"

About every other car honked, only 2 gave us the finger that I saw. I had to leave early cause of my back, so I drove by and honked when I left

10 am-12pm at City Park.
At the "Hands Off" protest in the spring, same venue, I had been amazed by the crowd size but today's was double or triple that. The estimate is a rough one from one of the organizers around 11 am. There's a large parking lot next to the Queensbury Hotel that was sparsely used in the spring event but was packed today. Protesters were gathered in the park, around the Civil War monument island and along both sides of Glen Street downtown. Lot's of honking cars but no engine racing Trumpsters, that I could see, like we had in the spring. Police had a large presence but were cool.

Deep, deep red ND. Lots of focus on labor and the constitution. Brought tears to my eyes. Im bad with crowd numbers but maybe 1k or so people?
Edit to add - apparently 3500-5000 people here. Just read in the newspaper.

(2,371 posts)I'm not too good at estimating crowds, but it was a lot. Pretty much filled the lawn in front of the Old Courthouse. A lot of people chose to stand on the sidewalk by the street with their signs. The honking was almost non-stop from the people passing by. In the time I was close enough to listen in detail over the two hours, I only heard three MAGA people yelling out their windows. There were no MAGA counter protesters, just one authoritarian-Jesus freak telling us we were all going to hell. Our County Commissioner who's been doing the most to fight a mid-census redistricting that puts in place all sorts of hanky panky for the Republicans had no problem using the f (fascist) word and the n (Nazi) word.

(98,285 posts)In central Maine, town of about 3,000, pretty serious cult territory but about 70 - 100 came out, some from other towns further up the road.
I didn't get any pictures, sorry. I didn't have anything yellow to wear so I went to the hardware store and got a roll of yellow survey ribbon and went through the crowd offering strips for people without any yellow clothes on. Used up more than half the roll!
Also didn't get any chants going as the crowd was split into four groups at a busy intersection. We had a couple coal-rollers go by, we laughed at them; and a couple people on motorcycles and flags trying to impress us. They all made a couple passes and didn't get what they wanted so they left. I suggested that the coal-rollers probably ran out of empty beer cans to trade in so they could buy more diesel.
It was a lot of fun, mostly over 50 but there were some young adults, everyone was upbeat and we had a lot of honking horns go by.

(37,902 posts)Much larger than the prior "No Kings" rally. More younger folks. The mayor attended (Shamus Malik). One counter-protester who challenged one of ours to beat him up. She laughed at him.
Here's a few photos, including one of me with my art project, now doubling as a protest banner.
The rally extended more than a block in each direction from the light visible in this photo.

(27,337 posts)Filled up all four corners at Four Corners. I didnt get a crowd count, but it looked at least as large as the first No Kings and likely larger. We also had two frogs (hot pink variety), two chickens, two dinosaurs, two unicorns, a green (illegal?) space alien, and a bald eagle in an Uncle Sam costume. Lots of cars honking and people waving in support.

(73,081 posts)the line of ppl was 2 miles long.
and thats just at the downtown rally. theres a retirement bldg near me that had about 75 ppl last time that had a couple hundred this time. a march broke out, there were so many ppl.
rallies all over the burbs, too.
The crowd, which organizers estimated totalled around 200 to 250,000 people, gathered in Butler Field ahead of the planned start of the demonstration. There were ongoing rolling street closures around Grant Park due to the demonstration.
Governor JB Pritzker spoke at the protest in support of Chicago's immigrant community after what he called attacks on democracy.
"The reality here in Chicago is this: Black and Brown people are being rounded up because of the color of their skin. Children are being zip-tied and separated from their parents. Worshippers coming from church are being questioned and detained. Workers are being harassed and detained at our restaurants," Pritzker said. "These are people who pay taxes, own businesses, and teach our children, and contribute to the fabric of our society. This is us, all of us."

(tRump haters) filled a sizable park, and lined multiple streets, next to the Country Club Plaza shopping district; TWICE the turnout of the 6/14 rallly! We were raoucous, we were noisy, we were stentorian---but at our core, we were peaceful and friendly and polite---EVERYTHING we had to be to piss off the MAGAts (and we did encounter a few!) Thousands of cars drove down those busy streets and uncounted number of them honked and waved in support of us. It was DEAFENING--my ears ares still ringing! We had frogs, squirrels, unicorns, dinosaurs, horses, and other "terrorists," and more great signs than you could shake a stick at! Really, I haven't had this much fun since college, when my friends and I "decorated" (defaced) the city water tower on campus!

(20,338 posts)It was an incredible, totally peaceful event. We started on the steps of the Capitol and then marched down to Zilker park for the main speakers. Greg Abbott called up the Texas Guard because he didnt want Los Angeles riots. Of course there were bo incidents and actually never even saw a guardsman. More Kubuki theater from Abbott.

(4,208 posts)The police presence in Times Square was very slim, which I found interesting. We saw one or two about every couple of blocks. All were peaceful and dignified. Even though it was packed liked sardines, everyone was respectful.

(17,056 posts)In my red county, Beaver, about 500 or more showed up at the county courthouse. I'm sure this was bigger than the June event. The lawn and public area in front of the courthouse was pretty full. Attendees with signs lined the street in front of the courthouse about 2-3 deep and spilled over onto the next block. Lots of cars passing by honked their horns in support, only saw 3 cultists giving thumbs down or middle finger to us. Crowd chanted "hey, hey, ho, ho, Donald Trump has got to go" off and on. Unlike previous events, there were no jacked up pick up trucks with their maga flags repeatedly circling around the area being trolls. The crowd was mostly Boomers, but there were some young people, couple babies and a few pets. Saw t-rex, unicorn and Pillsbury dough boy inflatable costumes, It was a friendly, but serious, crowd. There were 3-4 speakers including the head of the local young Dems. There were only 2 local police cars, 1 parked at the end of the block in front of the courthouse and 1 parked on a side street abutting the courthouse. They spent a boring couple of hours as all was peaceful.
It's the turnouts in these red areas that should scare Rs. Not only my county, but going north toward Erie, even redder counties had rallies with decent turnouts in places like Hermitage and Grove City.

(17,056 posts)As reported in the Pgh Tribune-Review. The crowd estimate is from the local Greensburg Police
Greensburg is in Westmoreland county, a very red county that stretches like an accordion from SE of Allegheny county to Blair county (Johnstown).

Although part of the rally began in front of Penn State's Old Main, State College is the town, NOT the college. State College residents will be quick to tell you that. State College even has a different zip code, 16801, than Penn St.

(1,501 posts)A little more than 200 people there at the main intersection in town. People dressed up like the women in the Handmaid's Tale, a guy dressed up as Santa who had cancer and his sweet little dog with him whose sign said dump Trump, awesome music, etc. I wish I could post a few pictures but Imgur doesn't seem to be working for me these days. 200 not sound like a lot but for that town that is amazing
