At the last one, held at the same location as today's, several MAGAts showed up with guns. Fortunately, they left when people started reacting. A carload of them showed up but never worked up the nerve to start a counter protest.
I've already been though this kind of thing. I was a part of a weekly anti Iraq War demonstration where people drove towards us, flashed guns at us, and we were constantly being threatened. It was, at times, pretty unnerving. That being said, those people were like cotton candy, compared to the Cult members.
I live in a solid blue part of the county so, just like last time, I expect we will get lots of support. About a mile west of here is a deep red district.
I don't have the energy for the full 4 hours but plan to arrive, with my brother and possibly other friends, at about the mid point. The site is a short distance from my house. I'll give the kid cats a scritch, kiss and cwtch (Welsh for hug) just before I leave.

(27,178 posts)although after our last protest, we decided we were entirely too old and achy to continue. This is simply too important for us to sit on the sideline.

(85 posts)I know what you mean...I'm in deep blue L.A. County but will never forget the LAPD turning a TANK, yes an actual TANK, towards us at an anti-war protest at the Westwood Federal Building back during W's reign of error. (Oh lawd, we thought HE was bad...and, I mean, he was...Exhibit A, John Roberts and Scalito...but...)
