"One of these days, they'll come for YOU!" - what I want to tell my repuke -voting computer guy

He voted for Trump because his extreme sect of Lutherans has influenced his thinking. Honestly, I never met a Lutheran like this but I live in a deep blue CT city, New Haven. He lives nearby and was recommended by a former professor of mine. He is resume building and gives me expert service here at home and charges only $35 per hour. He is learning about art from me and it is enriching his life, based on what his reactions are to the art projects we work on (he was in awe of a Matisse I had shown him).

I've kept my mouth shut about politics but I think he regards Trump as a friendly force. But he has a form of dykenesia which is sometimes evident and sometimes controlled. I'll bet he is on medication to control his head and body jerking.

He is thinking about moving to Texas. I'd hate to lose his services but honestly, I think he'd be happier in a red state. However, I wonder if his meds would become much more expensive in a red state.

OTOH, I guess he'll have to find out for himself...

I've had similar experiences with Episcopalians. I grew up LCMS, I understand how rigidly conservative they can be.

They do have their lunatic fringes, though - the Missouri Synod is quite conservative, and the Wisconsin Synod is way out there - it makes the Southern Baptists look like a depraved Satanist cult. Remember Minnesota's goofy congresswoman Michelle Bachmann? She was WELS. They don't allow female clergy; they are intensely opposed to everything gay, and they won't even allow non-WELS members to participate in any liturgy, including weddings - you can't even be a bridesmaid unless you belong to that church. Fortunately, there aren't very many of them and most are in the Midwest.

"So is he going to have surgery?"

Honestly, I hadn't asked and told him that.

recommended him. She is very liberal so I was surprised when his religious beliefs became known. I don't think she knew about his religious bent.

He is absolutely crazy about my Wall of Women project, which is where he encountered Matisse's fauvist work "Madame Matisse in a Hat." If you google it, you will see how striking it is.

However, he seemed a bit unimpressed by some other gorgeous works: Leonardo's angel in "Virgin of the Rocks" (Paris version), Klimt's "Woman with a Fan," MIllais' drowning Ophelia, etc.
