So there must be more to it.

Can't help to think of the NRA, stated aim is to make all gun owners responsible citizens who handle guns safely.
The actual results of the 'work' of the NRA is something totally different in reality.

But I'm willing to be educated by people who know more than I do.

extremist cult. Alito, Thomas, and the late Scalia are members. Josh Hawley is a member and I imagine when J D Vance converted to Catholicism, he was drawn to this. Authoritarian beliefs abound in Opus Dei. I am appreciating the candidness of Pope Leo. Thanks for posting this. I had not heard about it. I agree with you, if this comes to pass, it’s a big deal!
