General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI was just watching Velshi interview an older woman who will be protesting
on Saturday. She was explaining why she felt she needed to attend NO KINGS.
It prompted me to come up with a good sign idea.
"I am actually a terrorist under this little old lady costume"
or
"Terrorist cosplaying as a little old lady"
I have plenty of signs - so if anyone likes it...they are welcome to the idea.

(24,449 posts)Amazing considering she lived thru the 60s that had rallies about Viet Nam, voting rights, womens rights and other social issues but I am thrilled that her sister got her to commit for this one.

(3,629 posts)AND your grandkids
I'm here to protect my grandchildren...
AND yours.
If you don't have grandchildren, it doesn't work.
One I have that I like is:
This isn't about left or right...
it's about right and wrong
I think it is good to have signs that grab people's attention in a positive way...not an adversarial way. I get your goal.

(3,899 posts)I was thinking similarly...Antifa Grandmother defending the Constitution or Grandmothers against Fascism...I especially like the last one you offered....it's about right and wrong, except too many MAGAts will interpret that as saying the Left is wrong.

(3,629 posts)because it appeals to peoples' emotions and what they care about. MAGAts love their grandchildren also.
When I write the one: It's not about Left and Right, it's about Right and Wrong. I put the word "left" first in the set up, so it mirrors the word "right" in the second part of the "expression".
Aren't we ALL on the same side when it comes to the Constitution?
I read somewhere that we shouldn't identify ourselves as "antifa", even though we are doing it somewhat mockingly. It is playing into their narrative that it is an organized protest/terror group. I understand the approach. Imagine on RW media Jesse Watters showing images of signs w/ the word on Antifa on them...and saying "SEE!" He's good at contorting stuff like that.
I think grandmothers against fascism becomes a different message. Because who isn't? isn't that why we fought a World War?
I think our veterans have the best symbols and messages to bring to the resitance nowadays...and on so many fronts. Not just anti fascism, but all the cuts to federal employees and veterans services....and all the nonsense at the pentagon....and waging war on random boats from Venezuela and Colombia.
I think this resistance is a powerful one. There are s o many messages to deliver. There is so much psychology at play. AND there is so much that hinges on it.
Have a peaceful and safe protest tomorrow. We are everywhere all at once. We the People!

(1,234 posts)Suggestion.... Am I actually a terrorist under this little old lady costume?
Takes away the ignorant rw spin that you are a terrorist.
And that lady was adorable.
