https://www.reuters.com/business/world-at-work/white-house-budget-director-vought-says-over-10000-federal-workers-could-be-laid-2025-10-15/Vought made the remarks on "The Charlie Kirk Show" as the administration is locked in litigation with a CFPB labor union and consumer advocates over whether Trump has the authority to fire most CFPB staff or dismantle an agency created by Congress.
Representatives for the CFPB did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Very few people currently work at the CFPB's Washington headquarters "while we close down the agency," Vought said. "So we want to put it out and we will be successful probably within the next two or three months."
Vought repeated Republican allegations that the agency had persecuted small businesses but failed to protect consumers.

(128,911 posts)to invest in something and so little opportunity that they need to cannibalize the average American investor's assets. Plus it makes the middle class poorer which the GOP like. That is why they are going after public school teachers.... they make money and sometimes (often) vote Democratic so they give money to the Democratic Party. The same with liberals who have assets. They must be neutralized according to MAGA and Heritage thinking.
