Leader Jeffries on MSNBC All In With Chris Hayes(excerpt)
We're in the midst of a Trump caused government shutdown.
The military is on the verge of not being paid, notwithstanding the fact that our men and women in uniform continue to put their lives on the line.
We have a Republican health care crisis that is devastating people all across the country. and Donald Trump could care less.
The Republicans who are sycophants in the House and the Senate could care less. Instead, they're focused on bringing baseless charges and weaponizing the Department of Justice against perceived political adversaries.
You put a statement out in response to the news of Tish James' indictment in which you said among other things that um those sycophants who aid and abet the president's schemes will not be able to hide from serious legal consequences of their behavior they will be held accountable. What do you mean by that?
So there's two things to keep in mind here. First of all, there's accountability for the corruption and the chaos that Donald Trump has unleashed on the American people from the very beginning of his presidency on January 20th that should be tied directly to the Supreme Court and the six right-wing justices who basically gave Donald Trump without justification blanket immunity and he's been out of control ever since. So, that's problem number one.
Problem number two, of course, is the fact that there are so many different corrupt sycophants within the Trump administration, including but not limited to within the Department of Justice.
Now, these people don't have immunity. And the reality is the statute of limitations is 5 years, and there will be accountability with the next administration, if not before, when Democrats take back control of the House of Representatives.

(92,975 posts)...it's tiresome, and only points to their own inability or lack of concern to go and look to see what he's said out of the reams of statements, appearances, and writings that he's made since he was voted to lead hundreds of Democrats, BY those same Democrats.
NONE of the critics had a vote in that, and none that had a vote is making this sort of criticism.
....here, let me do the cherry-picking for myself, and others can find their own nit to pick.
Hakeem Jeffries Faces Backlash Over Fight In The Streets Comment
"Everyday New Yorkers and everyday Americans are under assault by an extreme MAGA Republican agenda that is trying to cut taxes for billionaire donors and wealthy corporations and then stick New Yorkers and working-class Americans across the country with the bill," Jeffries said. "That's not acceptable."
QUESTION: You said that you don't want to swing at everything, but do you think it's appropriate that this city has a mayor who isn't swinging? And do you think he's a good fit for the city as mayor right now?
REP. HAKEEM JEFFRIES: Yeah, I have more to say about the future of the mayorship of the city of New York at the appropriate time. Right now, we're going to keep focused on the need to look out for everyday New Yorkers and everyday Americans, who are under assault by an extreme MAGA Republican agenda that is trying to cut taxes for billionaire donors and wealthy corporations and then stick New Yorkers and working-class Americans across the country with the bill.
That's not acceptable.
We are going to fight it legislatively. We are going to fight it in the courts. And we're gonna fight it in the streets.

H2O Man
(78,064 posts)I have expressed my opinion if I do not think elected representatives are not doing their job. But, in this case, I'm more than pleased. Rep. Jeffries is doing very well for us now. And it is his part of a larger, well thought out plan to win back control in Congress with wins in the mid-terms.
While he is doing that, our party has a numbered of talented leaders that are speaking out publicly, and a coordinated effort to protect the country as best as they can as a minority in both houses of Congress. We also have leadership at the state level dealing with the military invasion. There are court cases that appear promising. Add to that, the felon and the head of his gang's war council insulted the top military leaders. And the Epstein scandal.
Maybe rather than demand that Rep.Jeffries ride up the steps on a large Harley (wearing mirror shades and a Hell's Angels' uniform, and counting coup on the felon's head) those who invest time and energy in complaining could join the rest of us at the grass roots in doing our part. It is an essential part of the united front we need, both now and in November of 2026. There is plenty of work to be done.
I recommended the OP. Thank you for bring important, positive news to the community.

(24,254 posts)To me it meant even more big, peaceful protests as they been going on.
I admit I have thought at times that Rep Jeffries has not spoken out enough. And it might be my fault for missing repoets of his statements etc.
I do like what I'm hearing here.
Nothing is ever good enough.
