Paranormal Experieces? "Woo", etc...

I put Woo in quotes bc some people (here and elsewhere) think it's all imaginary, ?hallucinatory, etc, etc. I believe some of this is real, possible, etc.

Not sure what brought this experience back to me.
I'm texting it out, plus an illustration w hand witten text that may not be totally readable to some - my art app does not have any font (type/text); selection.

So back in the ?80's I went to a lecture by a shaman. The one thing I remember was an exercise, per se. He stood against a door. He was white, had on a white, or very light colored outfit. The door was dark wood. We were asked to look at him for a minute or so, and then close our eyes.

We've all had some experiences were what we see w our eyes open becomes reversed with our eyes closed. It's called an afterimage. It can be B&W. White turns black, black turns white.

It can also be color. Example- our elevator buttons are orangesh when pushed if I blink right after I get a quick greenish image. Green is usually opposite of red, while blue tends to be opposite orange. So idk why my eyes do that- but it's close enough opposite on the color wheel. Maybe I need to pay closer attention.

We closed our eyes. He became a black silhouette against a white door.
Ok, typical. ✅️

Then, he said he was going to "pump up his aura"; and we were to keep looking at him. Well, no difference looking at him. Ok.

But then, he asked us to "close our eyes". And we did.

To my/our surprise, the aura appeared as an afterimage!
How so? (the illustration shows it)

His silhouette appears white, when it should have appeared black. The door appears white which is expected, but....

Surrounding him was a solid black ? 10" inch outline that became fuzzy and faded out at it's outer edges. The aura was brighter than his white outfit; which I'm thinking rendered it black bc of it's contrast!
Woah. Totally unexpected!
Now, maybe, there were some there who could see his aura with eyes open - but they rest of us couldn't.

I don't think it was fake as say we don't see ultraviolet, or infrared. And how would he have had an invisible light around him.
I think it was/is real. Do we need better studies into "energies" sciences. Maybe.
I just know a bunch of experienced this.

I'd like to hear your experiences. Tia! 🙂👍

Ok I'm posting this first bc I don't want to lose all this typing! Bbs.

Dang, fuzzy. I don't hot link.
How much of this url can I get rid of if anyone knows. 👍

I've had what could be considered paranormal experiences, but they seem to happen often enough with friends and family that we never considered it odd. Unsettling, maybe, but not odd. Occassionally seeming to know what others were thinking, out of body experiences, empathy, seeing what some call ghosts, and the very young children talking about a past life (they seemed to lose interest in it by about age 8). Just normal stuff in our family.

where the parents had 🤔 no kind of discussions related to anything their kid reported.

If your family, and self has experienced a fair amount of a variety of stuff - it would seem natural, if unsettling to you.

My mom had an OBE during a middle age surgery. She said she saw her body, and almost sure she mentioned to the staff post-sugery some thing(s) she saw on top of a high cabinet she couldn't have seen from her prone position.

6. Our house is haunted
Thu Oct 9, 2025, 11:58 PM
Thursday

for real ...but there's no scary music.

Doors opening and closing
Things flying out of closets - electrical appliances going on randomly - - - not plugged in!
Objects being moved when no one is in the house
We all saw the same "disappearing man" individually without speaking to each other, until I saw him one day, went to
the front door to see who was walking up the path to the house, and he disappeared. I commented to my son "It happened again"
He asked "What?" "There's a bearded man in a dark coat walking to our house, and when I go to see who it is he vanishes.."
My son said "Oh, you see him too?" I called my husband at work to tell him about this, and he said "matter-of-factly "Yeah, I see him." Beds shaking... stuff like all that.

We think we know who it is. The man is outside is Hiram Cook, a Civil War Captain who built this house for his daughter Floretta.
We think it's either Floretta, or her daughter Irma" who haunts us inside. We just take it for granted and go about our business.
A housekeeper/babysitter quit on us because she was freaked out by the weird antics .

My ambition is that when I pass on, I join Floretta in her mischief for the next family who lives here.
We are the first family other than the Cook heirs to live in this house..

BTW, I don't believe in ghosts.

3. I learned how to see aura's in my "literature of the supernatural and the occult" class in private catholic high school.

My teach was a nun and she invited a guest. I was the only one to see it. Then I could see it all the time.
I haven't tried in a long time but I could see them if I put my mind to it up until probably about 15 years ago.

I got bored with it.

8. It was an interesting class. I've always been an atheist and was surprised by it.

I had a very cool religion teacher who backed me up when I would piss off the class when pointing out all the contradictions. It was my introduction into religion other than being made to go to mass and then forbidden to during my senior year (new policy). Weird shit. The rituals freaked me out.

She saw my questions as a good way for the kids that did believe, to question the bible in order to strengthen their beliefs. She would tell them they could learn to interpret stories in different ways or even not buy into every single thing. I thought that was healthy even though I didn't buy into any of it.
I gave it a good shot though at one point later but just couldn't "make" myself believe. It was pretty funny in hindsight.

She was an interesting nun. I really respected her.

The one who taught the lit class was having an affair with the football coach. Maybe she was losing her religion, I don't know.
She did cover all kinds of supernatural topics and how they either helped or hurt religion and shaped beliefs in different cultures.
I know the lit teacher lasted decades there and my religion teacher was there for many years after I had graduated.

On edit: I was surprised that the class was offered but it made perfect sense once we got going.

We squatted in a church basement for a few years.

That place was 100% haunted. Textbook case: footsteps, slamming doors, sudden temp drops, weird noises that really can't be described or categorized.

I’ll tell this story.
On the night my now ex’s father died, we spent the evening sitting around and chatting, eating, drinking. It soon came time for bed and my then-BF and I laid down on the air mattress set up for us in the den, which was just off the kitchen and dining room areas (open concept). I can still see this in my minds eye despite not being in this house for many years. Anyway, about 2 or 3 in the morning, I woke up for some reason and looked into the kitchen. BF’s father was standing in the doorway to the dining room, looking in at what I can only assume were the two enormous photo collages that we created for the next morning’s funeral. I said and did nothing. I told my BF weeks later. He shrugged it off. I’m not sure why his dad would’ve appeared to me. He didn’t particularly like me.

Oddly, at the start of the viewing earlier that day, my BF’s niece walked right up to the casket, gave it a pat and said “we’ll play catch again soon, Pa!” She was three, no one told her who was in the casket and it was not open.

11. 1969, upstate rural New York...

...I'm a young teenager traveling with my favorite aunt from somewhere in Illinois, to visit another aunt and uncle, who lived in a roughly two-hundred year old house, next to an abandoned church. The house was where the minister(s) lived back when the church was active, which was apparently up until the early 1920s.

There was a GRAVEYARD behind the house, with grave markers dating from the 1700s until the early 1920s.

My cousin - I'll call her "Dana" - was 4 years older than me, had a collection of occult books and magazines, and a Ouija board.

We started working with the Ouija board, and at some point, it started spelling out answers to questions with neither my cousin or myself being in any physical contact with the planchette, as it's called.

Just like in the 2016 movie Ouija: Origin of Evil.

Later that night, as I laid on a foldout bed/cot with a thin "mattress," covered with a single sheet - it was a warm summer night - the sheet started to be pulled off of me from my feet, one inch at a time, until it was down to my ankles.

It was weird and somewhat terrifying.

I left the cot and went to the next room where my aunt was sleeping, and told her I was going to sleep on the floor.

Over 20 years later, I saw the aunt/uncle that lived in the haunted house, I told them the story, and they agreed with me that strange things had happened there.

For example, they were afraid to go down into the basement, so they left it empty the entire time they lived there.

The End.

On the night my mother died, she was lucid for the first time in quite a while. After months of cancer treatment and, apparently lots of pain meds, she was alert and said hi to all of us standing around her bed, but she also said "Hi, Poppy" (which was what we called my grandfather).

Thing is, Poppy had died 6 weeks earlier. Nobody had told her because she'd been so out of it she wasn't really communicating. My Dad said, "Poppy's not here" and she said "Yes he is, he's right there" and pointed to the space at the foot of her bed.

The next morning I woke up, saw I was really late for school, and rushed out just in time to see men rolling a gurney towards the front door with what was obviously a covered body on it.

All these decades later I still get a bit teary thinking maybe Poppy was there to welcome her to wherever she was headed.

Since then, lights have flickered, the radio turns on by itself, my dog will bark in a friendly way at nothing, like he is answering someone calling his name or talking to him. When I drive his car, it has always had the same temperature on both sides of the car, unless the passenger changes it. Otherwise, whatever the driver sets their side at, the other side mirrors it. His passenger side has stayed different since he left.

Yesterday my electronics started going g crazy. My phone kept going to different pages even when I had not pressed anything. This has happened several times since his death.

The thing that freaked me out yesterday was his high boy. A few days ago I cleared it out. I took most of the stuff to Goodwill. I kept some shirts, because a friend us making a quilt for me. Last night I open up the drawers to put my clothing in there. There was a shotgun shell in the drawer. We do not own a shotgun. He has never owned a gun if any type. I am positive it was it there when I cleared out the dresser. I do not know if he is trying toward me if danger - he was afraid his family would try to come after his estate. I do not know if it is a message of some kind - I habe been asking him for help to try and find some of his money, but I cannot figure out what a shell would have to do with that. Just then, this post submitted itself, in the middle of me writing! Maybe he is just letting me know he is here, but I have acknowledged already that I know he is. It is like he is getting louder and louder trying to tell me something, but I do not know what.

I would think some of this is in my head and me missing him but my dog barking at nothing in the room, maybe eight times now, is independent of what I am thinking or feeling. Not going to lie, this shell thing has me shaken to my core. I told him I do not find it funny.

16. Not sure what I actually believe concerning contact with those who have passed
Fri Oct 10, 2025, 07:16 AM

but have heard enough stories from those who seem otherwise quite sane that I'd say I'm open to the possibility.

I'm so sorry for your loss and whatever unsettling things are going on.

I'm sure there are many charlatans so I wouldn't suggest asking for help from just anybody, but I did ask a woman who is reportedly psychic about some strange behavior from one of my cats. I'd adopted my guys after a friend had died during the pandemic.

Since the supposedly psychic woman was there with a woman I know and trust, I asked her if she was picking up anything about the cats' former mom and she said the cat's need to wake me at 2 a.m. felt like someone trying to maneuver their way past someone else who was also present.

It scared me too much to ask for any further info since the household is just me and the cats now but the cat no longer wakes me at 2 a.m. Maybe he just needed me to know that the two people I'd lost were there or something.

All I guess I'm trying to say is there might possibly be someone who could help interpret what is going on.

Sorry if that's too stupid a suggestion.

It started when he passed. Actually, it started the night before he passed. That was when the flickering lights started. Until the shotgun shell, it was comforting. I don’t need anyone to tell me it is him. I feel him. I know him. With my whole being, I know he is here.

I would not know a real person from a fake. If I knew someone was real, I might ask them for messages, like about his finances. Besides that, I am comforted by talking to him and him caring enough to let me know he is with me.

Moving things from the Paranormal to the Normal- not as a dispute but giving credence to what some say is paranormal and people just debunk the observations.
