Trump Fires Black Officials From an Overwhelmingly White Administration
Separately, in the administration’s first 200 days, only two of 98 Senate-confirmed appointees to the most senior jobs in government were Black.
By Elisabeth Bumiller and Erica L. Green
Oct. 8, 2025

Robert E. Primus, the first Black board chairman of the federal regulator responsible for approving railroad mergers, at first thought there was something wrong with his work phone. When he couldn’t unlock it he switched to his personal phone, only to learn that President Trump had fired him by email, effective immediately.

“I didn’t see it coming at all,” Mr. Primus, a Democrat, said in a recent interview. In January, the Trump administration had put a Republican in his place as the chairman of the Surface Transportation Board, which Mr. Primus saw as the president’s prerogative. But he had been appointed to the independent board by Mr. Trump in his first term and expected to remain on it, as had been the longstanding practice.

Instead, he heard a White House spokesman say the day after his firing in August that he did not “align” with the president’s agenda. Mr. Primus, a longtime congressional staff member and former lobbyist on transportation and national security matters, was reminded, he said, of Mr. Trump’s widely condemned comment during the 2024 campaign that immigrants were taking “Black jobs.”

Mr. Primus is part of a series of firings of Black officials from high-profile positions in an overwhelmingly white administration that has banished all diversity, equity and inclusion programs across the federal government. And while there are no statistics on firings by race, an examination of the people Mr. Trump is appointing to fill those and other jobs shows a stark trend.

Of the president’s 98 Senate-confirmed appointees to the administration’s most senior leadership roles in its first 200 days, ending on Aug. 7, only two, or 2 percent — Scott Turner, the secretary of Housing and Urban Development, and Earl G. Matthews, the Defense Department’s general counsel — are Black.

I still don’t get how so many thought that ignoring all of his history—the racism, misogyny, etc—was going to somehow work out favorably for them.

He told you all along who he was. People chose not to believe him. What else can be said?

Cubans, Latinos in New Jersey . . .

Muslims and Arabs:

In a historic shift, Muslim and Arab Americans broke with two decades of Democratic loyalty, splitting most of their votes between President-elect Donald Trump and third-party candidates in Tuesday’s presidential election, according to preliminary findings of two prominent advocacy groups.

The exodus, fueled by anger over the Biden administration’s handling of the war in Gaza, helped Trump win key battleground states, especially Michigan, as he defeated Vice President Kamala Harris to win a second term in the White House.

A nationwide exit poll of more than 1,300 voters by the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) found that significantly less than 50% of Muslim voters backed Harris. That compares with an estimated 65% to 70% that reportedly voted for President Joe Biden in 2020.

The lion’s share of the Muslim vote went to Jill Stein, the Green Party candidate who advocated for ending U.S. military support for Israel, or Trump, who received the backing of several Arab and Muslim community leaders and elected officials in Michigan.

I'm stating this as a Black woman. This country HATES us. And it's in all racial, ethnic, and religious groups. The first point of ANGER I've really seen from us was when it was reported that American children who are black - were zip tied by Klansmen and Slave Catchers last week (ICE/HSI).

The psychology of this choice is pretty complicated.

I suspect it has something to do with internalized
oppression, thinking they were more special than
other POC, and/or that other POC were not worthy.

Add that to the twisted culture/religion wars and
you get.. what you get.

… the world and they were all black. If help is not restored we are looking @ > 14 million dead. These deaths are no accident they were and are intentional by racists who openly talk about wanting to help the legacy of Apartheid by helping the whites of South Africa. Remember that Musk is a white from South
Africa who grew up as an Afrikaner.

Btw hasn’t Trump sent ICE agents and the military only to cities with black mayors? I don’t know the
race of the Mayor of Portland.
