I read way too much history and sociology. I love to see how socialital trends play out.
I posted yesterday this link about the jobs report
https://www.kxan.com/news/national-news/america-saw-essentially-no-job-growth-last-month-moodys-warns/
and it basically shows that there is zero job growth. And given the recent jobs reports showing a dramatic decline in job availability, I do not think this bodes well for the repukes at all.
as much as the orange asshole fires people, buries reports and obfuscate issues, the reality, in a few short months, there will be a very pissed off portion of the population. They will have been out of work and unable to find a jobs for many many months.
I have long maintained, that there will be less a civil war and more of a revolution. Odd timing on our upcoming 250 anniversary of our nation.
revolutions take many forms, not always with guillotines.
But I do know that the winds of change are certainly in the air and the right wing are doing all they can to keep that tamped down. And history has shown time and time again, that never works. It's like trying to keep the lid on a boiling pot of water.
unless by some stroke of magic, the orange asshole as a moment of clarity and stops the tariff bullshit and all his other halfwittery, 2026 is going to be one for the history books.
just my two cents.

The tremors before the big quake that foments the tsunami have already begun.

(12,969 posts)Democrats need to be hammering the change in jobs created under Trump versus Biden. Heres the last full month under Biden:
Nonfarm payrolls surged by 256,000 for the month, up from 212,000 in November and above the 155,000 forecast.
The unemployment rate edged down to 4.1%, one-tenth of a point below expectations. A broader jobless measure moved down to 7.5%, a decrease of 0.2 percentage point and the lowest since June 2024. (From CNBC)
From 256,000 to 0 in only 8 months. Trump has destroyed job opportunities for millions of Americans while forcing price increases on most consumer goods with his stupid tariffs.

The goal of Project 2025 is to kill unwashed Americans, it doesn't matter their political party.
The Kaiser Family Foundation did a study and found that if the cuts to our healthcare stay as they are projected, 50,000 American will die per year.
I agree, we need an Alexi Navalney but we don't have one. Magats will die and have "I Owned The Libs" inscribed on their tombstones.
The only way we can throw out the billionaires is for unwashed Magats to join with us and revolt, that day isn't happening soon enough.

(12,149 posts)began with a whimper- a call to arms on 20th November 1910. And fuck all happened for the most part. But little by little from that day, different leaders in various parts of the country took issue with the myriad problems Mexico faced at the time (collapsed economy, racist old fucker dictator at the helm of a part of equally racist "yes" men, social ills, labor problems, etc) and knitted together a successful revolution that brought about the most radical constitution that the world had seen up to that point.
I mean, hundreds of thousands died in the ensuing years- so maybe we can skip that part. But in many ways, Mexico's issues then mirrored our own: a vast country with a bunch of different and serious issues; regional variations and rivalries; loads of foreign interference (thanks US, Germany, Britain and France). They needed not one leader, but many and that's what made them successful (though in the end was the undoing of all of the leaders- the bravado and different motivations, but I digress).

(7,442 posts)Land title insurers are having nightmares with all the fraud and it is only getting worse with the technology available to con artists. Lower level fraudsters who don't want to get real jobs are doing some profoundly entertaining things to separate honest but gullible people from their money.
One wonders: just who do the private equity vultures think they will buy the homes they foreclose on? Working people already can't afford rent. Oh yeah, the class that has some money but no common sense and thinks they can become princes too.
To put it bluntly, this country is the United States of Fraud.

(421 posts)...was that the new Administration would come in and not change things; ride the Biden economy to the mid-terms and work hard to gain as much popular support as possible to turn congress and the country even more red before leveraging that support and overwhelming numbers in congress into a more subtle but more entrenched authoritarianism.
Clearly this is not what they did. Fortunately for the future they did all of the stupid things they said they would and a lot more. This really does give us the best chance of saving democracy--as odd as that sounds.

How many narcissists does it take to screw in a lightbulb? One. They just hold up the lightbulb and the world revolves around them.
But if your theory is correct I'm not going to complain about it.

(14,706 posts)How quickly can the wannabe oligarch factions work together well enough to damage, dismember, or discourage any potential opposition mechanisms so they can remove enough of the population and be able to "rule", as opposed to how quickly will the average US Citizen wake up and realize the long Con and what it means for their personal situations.
I figure the Oligarchs need to take 1/3 of the citizen population of the US out of play over the next year to be able to do what they want unimpeded. They have about 15% completely on their side, and another 20% they've made nihilistic enough who they feel won't interfere unless really pushed (i.e., until it's too late).
And it's not a left or right situation. It's a moral survival situation.
Capitalistic Monopoly systems are zero sum organizations, and oligarchs are the embodiment of the monopoly. There's the oligarch, and then there's everyone else under the oligarch who has to depend on their good will to remain in that system.
As evidenced by the citizenry of current Russia, anyone outside such a system is left to survive on their own; if they're lucky, as a serf to be able to glean a little of the leftover crumbs if the system needs more bodies.
IDK about you, but even though over the years I have learned skills to build tools and survive off whatever I can scavenge in either rural environments or urban ruins around me with nothing but the clothes on my back to start with, I'm too old and disabled to be able to without a lot of willing hands and minds to help me.

(2,576 posts)To try to take over the country before the consequences of his BS catches up with him. Especially his child raping. But the wild card is that Trump is senile - he has lost his mind. All he does is watch Fox, post rants, and make decrees based upon what he sees on TV. All he does is react. 25th amendment and all that.
I doubt he will be successful in taking over the country, but I have no doubt he will not go quietly, and no doubt his supporters will try to protect him.
And I am sure that the rich, the MAGAs, the GOP, are meeting to find a way to get him out of office and replace him with one of their own. There is no one, but the moment they find one, then out he goes..
