You know who has been warning about this for months? Democrats.
But the people who had no plan to deal with this crisis and still donât want you to believe this is about âillegals.â

(1,646 posts)this does seem to be an indication that at least one Republican is openly jockeying for position in the post-Trump era. Does she know something about his health or plans to remove him?

(1,981 posts)...but it's easy for anyone to see that in a close vote, the ones who have distanced themselves from the herd end up getting more leverage. She's found an outlier vantage point that doesn't piss off her base, and so is making the most of it.
But that kind of leverage only works if she threatens to use it, not if she actually does. That final card can only be played once.

But Im still happy she is talking about it.

(30,006 posts)renewing the Obamacare subsidies is just a baby step, is not nearly enough to protect everyone's healthcare.
All of our premiums are going to rise, Medicaid will be gutted and people thrown off coverage, Medicare will also see drastic cuts.
I have a sneaky feeling that Congressional Democrats will agree to a watered down protection of healthcare to reopen the government.
I better schedule my 2nd knee replacement now.

Literally personally everyone knows that fact from lived experience every goddamn day.
Why the GOP thought this ridiculous lie would pass the smell test - even for the cult thats motivated to believe any bullshit - is pretty crazy.

(9,265 posts)Reading that this tool is saying that she is 'carving her own path'.
She has not had a single original thought since her birth. She has been the poster child for 'sycophant-ism'.
The fact that she has now figured out that her base is not as happy with her worship of the orange gibbon does not excuse her earlier attempts to be a complete tool.
Sure, we can applaud her for the position, but her history as a 'whichever makes the most people mad' practitioner just does not disappear because she got one thing correct.

(104 posts)it impacts them or theirs do they care. I don't think she just figured it out. Well hmmm....So her adult kids might come to her to make up the difference is what has caused the turnabout. Millions will have to drop health insurance which will cause an increase in non emergency emergency room visits. All while claiming that ending the ACA subsidies will somehow stop emergency rooms from treating health emergencies to people regardless of legal status or ability to pay, which is the law! All of their "solutions" are really agendas. And their fake empathy is disgraceful.

(417 posts)...that these premiums were going to be "DOUBLING" (and more in many cases) when you voted for the One Big Beautiful Bill that set all of this in motion? It was in the damn bill. Did you not read it; not believe it; not think it would actually happen; or just fail to comprehend what Democrats were telling everyone about what would happen if you passed the reconciliation monstrosity along party lines?
Republicans in leadership haven't given you a plan to help Americans deal with their health insurance premiums precisely because it was their plan to allow the subsidies to expire in the first place to help pay for tax cuts for billionaires Marge. Very soon we will have the first trillionaire, but I bet there will not be a plan to have them help pay for anything in the U.S. budget will there Marjory?
And "all insurance is a scam"? I would note that us on the left never wanted the ACA to be an insurance program. We wanted a single-payer system that did not funnel billions into the pockets of middle-men, but I wonder who would not let that stand? You get what you can get and the ACA was far better than the system we had in place, but it obviously did not go far enough and has failed to be able to protect itself from the political vultures circling overhead at every turn.
So please tell us what your Faux News-addled brain sees as a good plan going forward--because your party's plan all along was to have these subsidies expire and premiums explode to deal a death-blow to the ACA. Do you want to claw back some tax cuts to reinstate the subsidies; do you want to just reinstate them and add to the debt and deficit; do you want to see us shift to a single-payer system; do you want to require employers to pay people enough to afford healthcare; do you want to require health systems to eat more costs and pay providers less? What's YOUR plan there genius? Because as far as I can tell, the plan from your leadership has always been to let anyone that can't afford to belong to a country club to die in the street.

(8,479 posts)will leave the system...leaving those who need more care in the pool. The healthier group and larger pool are needed for the system to work.
Plus...less preventive and routine care will ultimately mean sicker patients and more costly solutions.
Plus...they are cutting Medicaid and Medicare. Higher costs for more people.
GOP has put forward ZERO proposals to help...instead they will break it. Even though polling seems to indicate that the public understands to some degree, this is about much more than just ACA subsidies and MSM/dems can do better at explaining, especially in the face of GOP lies.
marge is slowly leaving the dark side. i believe that she, like most politicians, is a strong believer in polls and her polls are most likely telling her that georgians want health care. they also want republicans to keep their promise regarding the epstein files. she is most likely tired of the house of representatives and wants to move on to other and higher political office. earlier polls showed that she would fare poorly in a senate race in 2026, but a move to the center may change that.

Shes been very slowly figuring out that her values truly dont align with the party she represents but seems too stubborn to fully acknowledge she was duped by all the fake news and propaganda that consumed her.
People can change and completely denounce their past behavior and actions, then resolve to make up for them. I hope she does this.
