That poor child.

I went food shopping last night, and passed a couple with their two children. The girl, about 3, was trying to climb into a refrigerator case, and the mother called out to reprimand her. I couldn’t believe the name of the child. The poor thing is called Melania. The mother seemed proud of the name choice as she called the child by name four or five times before I could escape the vicinity.

But it only takes one to ruin a perfectly good name. I would bristle when someone, either through ignorance or apathy, called her or spelled her name as ‘Melanie’. I know someone so nice named Melanie, and I don’t like her name associated with that ghastly person. I asked them to try ‘melanoma’. I don’t like cancer, yunno.
