"I've lived 82 years on this Earth, and this is the first time I've ever witnessed people delighting in the suffering of others so openly, so proudly, and even recording it for the world to see. If these people ever crossed paths with me, I swear...I would not hold back."
We need many more people like Mick to speak out.

Maybe the OP's dog just died? What's their excuse?

(52,449 posts)the thread, yet the OP refused to pull it. Even worse, it ended up with hundreds of rec's, the vast majority which came after it was debunked.
The lack of discernment on DU is dismaying.

Jagger has never been a role model for me personally, same for Dylan and many others from that era.
Bob Marley is a large exception, of course.

(104,964 posts)It turns up as an all-caps caption beneath a picture of him, but no-one ever said where he said it, or when. The longest "quote" I can find is here:
https://oldies.azexplained.com/extremely-dissatisfied-in-an-unexpected-and-deeply-emotional-statement-rolling-stones-frontman-mick-jagger-has-spoken-out-against-what-he-describes-as-a-disturbing-new-phenomenon-o.html
That adds other 'quotes' from him like I came of age when people had nothing, when we leaned on each other just to get by, he reflected. Now I see young people, even whole groups, filming themselves dancing or cheering while someone else lies hurt or humiliated. That is not just cruel it is a sickness.; or "crowds cheering not at concerts, not at victories, but at pain, death, and humiliation". But I can't find anything else claiming he said that.
A Rolling Stones Facebook fan group posted it on 18th Sept. https://www.facebook.com/groups/347378540986064/posts/798062492584331/ Some said it was fake; one reply claims it comes from Rolling Stone magazine, but I can't find that interview (which you'd think Rolling Stone would advertise heavily, even if they don't make it freely available, to get people to subscribe).
Snopes investigated various claims about what Jagger supposedly said after Kirk was shot - and concluded he'd said nothing. This one sounds rather like:
However, there were no such posts on Jagger's X account reacting to Kirk's death. A Google search for Jagger and the quote "I've never witnessed anything this sick" did not return any results apart from social media posts sharing the claim.

I looked at your profile and can see you been here a LONG time and decent number of posts so I figured you were just sharing something you saw, no mal-intent. I think for what was posted, even if it wasn't correct, a lot of the replies here are a little over the top. It wasn't world changing stuff.
highplainsdem
(58,562 posts)be multiple news stories about it, and that can be easily confirmed by searching for the celebrity's name along with at least several words of the quote (in quotes). If you can't find a news story about it, just random social media posts, with no attribution to a published source or video, it's fake.
I know that means a few minutes' work. But you owe it to DUers not to post fake quotes.

(104,964 posts)The group's history says it was called the "MICK JAGGER" group until March 2025. It's just fans. And several replies say it's fake.
But yeah, the Sept 18th date points to it being fabricated for the Charlie Kirk killing.

(104,964 posts)Just like the people who made up the quote wanted people to believe that Jagger was pro-Charlie Kirk, just like them.
Next time, maybe the fake celebrity quote should be just "I agree with you!!!", and then it can be used on all occasions, by all sides, and attributed to anyone we feel like.
