800 admirals and generals, and their advisors, flown from around the world on short notice to Quantico, VA. First class airfare (security needed) or military flights (even more expensive than commercial first class). Hotels. Cars. Food. Times at least 1600. You do the math.

Generals tend to know a lot about military history, including from before they were born. This reference goes back to just barely after I was born, but I recognize it, from my reading, and from an opera (Doctor Atomic) in which I don't think the names were mentioned, but it called up related memories
