Spread the word!!!
I've been doing the math on my own (I am an activist) and I have posted on DU that there are already over 2,000 planned protests. Today I have read that my estimate is correct...
"As President Trump continues to escalate his violent authoritarian attacks on our freedoms including increasing militarization of our nations cities and the threat of a federal government shutdown the No Kings October 18th day of action has just surpassed 2,110 local protests and rallies that are being planned across all 50 states. That makes the events on October 18 on track to surpass the June 14 No Kings day of action over the summer, which saw more than five million people protesting across all 50 states.
The October 18 day of action is the next step in this growing movement, channeling that energy into another coordinated, peaceful mobilization".

(54,034 posts)had 2 protests within a mile of each other. I stood on an elevated area after my march was finished and saw a sea of people converging into 1 enormous protest.
I am a good judge of crowd sizes and when the local news reported 10,000 protesters marched I knew it was BS. Later they reported the actual, updated number and it was 80,000!!!
When I saw all of them my mouth literally dropped open. I almost cried.

(57,406 posts)very red. That protest there wasn't anywhere near the size of the one you describe, but it was enthusiastic and I was shocked at the proportion of passersby who were positive and supportive. I would guess 50% supportive, 30% no reaction and 20% giving us the finger or yelling at us.
I'll be home for this one so I'm deciding whether to go to one of the protests in a local red areas or a local blue area.

(54,034 posts)was raided by ICE on June 4th and they arrested EVERYONE!!! People went out and chased them out of the neighborhood. That is one reason why there was such a huge turnout for the June 14th protest.
I attended the Hands Off protest on April 6th and what I really noticed was the amount of senior citizens showing up. This is rare since this group of constituents usually support the GOP. When they realized tRump was going after their Social Security and health care they finally did something.

I am going to use my old sign. NO KINGS with chess pieces and the king knocked on its side in two of the pictures!

(54,034 posts)and I reuse them (saves time and money since each one takes at least 6 hours to plan and produce) I am an illustrator so I'm inclined to use my ruler, x-acto knife, spray mount, etc. Since I've been to over 30 protests between 2016--2020 and 2024-present I have a portfolio of signs.
My personal favorite is a giant hand (with a tRump cuff links) slamming a gavel into the US flag, smashing it to pieces. The other is a red, white and blue silkscreen of his fat face with a clown nose, and a Hitler mustache and hair cut with a 4' long red tie.
I'm thinking of making the Oct 18th sign with a red, white and blue silkscreen of his badly bruised hand and "HOPE" written underneath it. I saw an image here on DU and it caught my eye.
My signs are double sided so I get to present two signs in one! A heavy duty dowel and foam core are also a must since my signs are heavy to carry for 1-2 hours and I get blown over when there is the slightest breeze. I can twirl my sign as I march and I do NOT stop to have any pictures taken once I start marching. My agenda is to protest loudly and be at the front so I can hear the chants and join in. I am a very passionate activist and when ever I go with someone else they always slow me down so now I only go solo.
I wish I knew enough about tech to be able post images of the signs on DU.

(94,261 posts)Yours are way too complicated for me!
I played chess as a kid and just wanted to see the king knocked aside!
I found the pictures on the internet and since I don't have a printer, my sister printed them for me! The printing "NO KINGS" I did on my own. It looked pretty good!

(54,034 posts)from my own observations the MSM is FINALLY showing the protests. The June 14th one was the largest in US history so they were sort of forced to report it.
And some, very few actually, mention the protests BEFORE they take place. I keep track of the things like this since I am an activist.
We ARE the people of the USA and we are fighting back in droves, media or no media. There really are that many of us, 3.5% of the population is BIG! Malcolm Nance says that is the magic number for a protest to matter and get noticed. NO KINGS had over 10 million protesters and we hit the 3.5 mark.
