TACO MONDAY: Top congressional leaders will meet Trump at the White House on Monday as shutdown looms

https://www.cnn.com/2025/09/27/politics/government-shutdown-congressional-leaders-trump

The top four congressional leaders will meet with President Donald Trump at the White House on Monday, multiple sources told CNN, as Washington works to avoid a looming government shutdown.

The eleventh-hour meeting with House Speaker Mike Johnson, Senate Majority Leader John Thune, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer comes as government funding is set to run out on Tuesday night, with both sides remaining dug in on their positions.

Trump canceled a meeting earlier this week with Schumer and Jeffries, the Democratic leaders. The president labeled “unserious and ridiculous demands” from Democrats as cause for scrapping the meeting, which he said would be unproductive.

The decision came after Trump spoke to Johnson and Thune by phone, CNN previously reported, and the two Republican leaders argued against making a deal with the Democrats. But on Monday, all top leaders will be included in the meeting.

It will only be a face-saving performance to allow Trump and the Republicans to blame Democrats for the shutdown because of their "unreasonable demands".

We know what he does to his guests in the Oval Office in front of cameras. Schumer and Jeffries better have a great game plan going in and people ready to blast their message immediately.

This is all just a ploy so he can say he tried, IMO.

All roads STILL lead to ROME.

He ran to:

1) Stay out of prison
2) Continue to enrich himself via the presidency and have taxpayers finance his recreation
3) PUNISH THE WORLD for electing Biden in 2020.

It's as far from three dimensional chess as one can get.

They are winging it and are no longer bound by the guidelines and traditions of jurisprudence.
