Sinclair Agrees to Stop Preempting Jimmy Kimmel Live! After Failing to Get Disney to Budge

Sinclair has agreed to stop preempting Jimmy Kimmel Live! and will allow the show to resume airing on its ABC affiliates, the company announced Friday afternoon.

Jimmy Kimmel’s late night show was indefinitely suspended by ABC after comments the comedian made about Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old charged with the murder of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.

“We hit some new lows over the weekend, with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” said Kimmel on the Sept. 15 episode.

Under the FCC's rules, it would be difficult for ABC to fine Sinclair for preempting Kimmel.

ABC can withhold programming too. Sinclair stations in the south crave SEC football. Maybe they didn’t threaten it THIS WEEK but losing big games later in the season could be a revenue shock to the local stations.

and even if ABC could withhold the Alabama v GA game, doing so would cost ABC ad dollars, not just Sinclair.

Why didn't they recruit Mike Lindell to do a spot? That would have drawn a lot of deplorables.

ABC could have simply said, "That is a nice TV station system you have. It would be a shame if you had no programming."
