I wish I knew more about his governing style. What's truly important to him, does he listen and react to his constituents? Does he explain his reasoning when (if) he goes against what's been a usual democratic position? I can't remember the circumstances from earlier this year or maybe during the last campaign season, but whatever it was it caused me concern, and I realized I know so little about him.

You are right, we need a leader... and I put him in the same category as Pete B. Both are young, dynamic, well-spoken, and highly intelligent. I wish we'd hear more from Pete, I love how he can even take it to Fox and hold his own and better... but he's lost his platform since t was put into office again.

But I think that Trump's actual posts in the style he does is worse since it's not self aware and I'm forced to hear about it and live through policies made from it.

With Newsom's posts I think it's silly, but I can ignore it. And I know I'm not the target audience for it so it's not particularly relevant what I think.

He's doing it to both the Orange Turd and his MAGrAts. The Orange Turd posts in capital letters so Newsom's trolling him the same way. As for MAGrAts, I have no problem considering they've been trolling Democrats while the Democrats have been playing "nice." The time for playing nice against the Orange Turd and his MAGrAts is over. It's time to give them a taste of their own medicine and see how they like it.

It also puts the already targeted California in the spotlight.
We've taken a stance, and we aren't bootlickers putting up with backwards shit from the toddler in chief.
Which in terms of International Marketing where it counts is a pretty decent strategy.

And it's not like he's doing it himself, he's allowing his PR staff to do what they need to do to expose fascist idiots for what they are. Hold up the mirror, make them actually pay attention to the BS they're being fed by infantilizing grifters and con men who are taking advantage of them.

Sun Aug 17, 2025, 05:40 PM

Authoritarian figures are bullies - they establish an image (usually as a tough guy) and try to make people afraid of them. Republicans by and large cave under this kind of bullying, because they are afraid their business, political standing, etc., will be destroyed if they don't.

The Democrats at this point frankly have nothing to lose by going the route of satirising Trump. Trump wants them cowed and compliant, but more to the point, he wants them to be the evil boogyman, the group that he can blame for everything. It's hard to do that if the Dems hold up a mirror to him, showing that everything he does is pathetic, weak, infantile, and ignorant. It's how you defeat malignant narcissists.

There are very few conservative comedians. Conservatives (especially MAGA) do not get humour - they see it only as a way to attack others, and most have surprisingly limited senses of humour. Democrats, especially progressives, are very good at being comedians, satirists, and speakers to power. Partially its because they are smarter on average, but partially as well because they enjoy word-play, double entendres, and not so gentle ripostes. They also enjoy debates, which for Republicans is hard to do because they see things usually in black and white terms, and also usually because they never see themselves as being wrong. This makes them very flustered when they have to debate someone capable of poking holes into almost any argument they make, especially because most of those arguments are usually very weak when actually examined.

So yes, I hope Newsom continues this.
