The Trumpies are trying to bait the WSJ into releasing their facsimile copy of the letter so they can churn it in the conspiracy boards, challenging fonts and marker widths and other minutia. They've been baiting the Journal on this all day. For some reason, the Journal is not playing their game, which is at least mildly interesting.

(5,706 posts)Needless to say, without the facsimile, it's far harder to turn the MAGA hordes toward their silly little debunking game, where they question every period and comma, etc. This is clearly making Trump insanely angry. He knows the way to counter it is to turn the letter itself into a conspiracy a la Texas Air National Guard. So the WSJ holding the actual letter close to the vest is infuriating them. The suit even claims that the letter doesn't exist, obviously in an attempt to bait its release.
What the WSJ is doing is definitely interesting. One wonders what they're up to. It's thrown a curveball in the MAGA response, in any case, which makes the unfolding at least watchable.
