Dead man walking

Donald Trump is not a well man, and hasn't been for awhile now. This admission of chronic venous insufficiency(if that what it truly is) is a bone thrown to the public to divert the media and the public from his more serious health issues, which most likely involves his heart and circulatory issues. The explanation of the bruising on his hand as a result of "serial handshaking" is laughable on the face of it. You don't get that kind of bruising, even if you're elderly, unless you're on blood thinners. I know, been there, done that. The fact that it shows up on what appears to be a monthly basis says that he is getting some sort of IV treatment on a regular basis, for what is anybodys' guess. His mentation, never strong to begin with, is declining rapidly. I've seen this slide happen in many older adults, and if I were a betting man, I'd say he has, at best, a year, yeaor and a half left.

So what happens next? I imagine that the powers behind the throne, the oligarchs truly in charge, will try and flog him through until after the 2026 election. After all there is still legislation and policies on the table that need to get done, things such as the SAVE act and capital gains cuts and Trump is still useful in achieving these goals. He is also useful being a shiny object to keep people distracted while the corporate oligarchs continue their work on the down low. We're already seeing this happen, cancelation of Colbert is just one example. Comedians have always been a threat to those in power, and it looks like a movement is starting to get rid of them. David Ellison, son of Larry Ellison, owns Skydance, the company buying CBS. I imagine that there was a Colbert cancelation clause in the deal that's been crafted, and it wouldn't surprise me if the Daily Show, a Paramount property, is next. But I digress.

So what happens when Trump dies. First off, I hate to say it, but I don't think that the midterm elections are going to make a bit of difference. I'm not saying this to be defeatist, but simply acknowledging the reality that the Republicans have gerrymandering, suppressed, and rigged the vote six ways from Sunday, rendering it impossible for Democrats to gain any real traction. Throw in the passage of the SAVE act and frankly it's a done deal. When Trump shuffles off this mortal coil, Vance will serve out his remaining term. He will also be eligible to serve two more terms, essentially ten years in office.

I know, I know, Vance isn't well liked by anybody, but the fact is that he's the perfect puppet for the oligarchs, he already is. That's why he is in the VP slot, to serve his tech bro masters, among others. The oligarchs knew Trump's health was failing before the election, and gambled that their man Vance would be in the Oval Office before 2028. The same machinery that threw the election for Trump will do it's magic for Vance, with a compromised and bought media saying nothing.

So what happens to us? We're going to have to go through the storm, and it's not going to be pretty. Between a new compliant Fed chair next year, the gutting of the SEC and other regulatory agencies, and the rise of crypto, we're going to see an economic fall that will hopefully only rival that of the Great Depression, and not be much, much worse. We're going to see crimes against humanity, people needlessly die, and the collapse of our society.

But there is good news for those who reach the other side, for out of great catastrophes come great changes. Think FDR, or post war Germany and Japan. But for now, preserve what you can, don't give up, help your fellow humans, and survive. As they say, it's always darkest before the dawn.

If they were trying to silence Colbert, rather than just save millions of dollars running Matlock reruns in his time slot, why are they giving him 10 more months before ending his show?

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

Trump could have congestive heart failure, but otherwise a diagnosis of CVI in a 79 year old man is not a significant, life threatening event.
