Trumps just cut $68 million from Ala. School budget because immigrants

Alabama schools offer education to immigrants, farm workers and their families. in particular.
School budget is set and schools open in a few weeks.
Now budget is 68 million short suddenly.

EXCEPT:

Leura Canary decided to indict former Governor Don Siegelman, who was desperately trying to start a state lottery solely for the purpose of FUNDING EDUCATION. (Give her husband, Republican campaign consultant Bill Canary, and Karl Rove some credit for this as well.)

As a result of her prosecution, leading to Governor Siegelman's conviction and subsequent administrations, NO STATE LOTTERY FOR EDUCATION TO THIS DATE HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED. That money could have really come in handy with TSF withholding federal funding for any reason that he's made up.

The money comes from the General budget.
Which means property taxes are very very low.
A $100 k house has under 400.00 annual property taxes.

If owners are blind,or disabled or over 65, zero property taxes.
It's an enticing retirement state, especially for us low income retirees.
