In an announcement Tuesday, Mattel said it had partnered with Breakthrough T1D a Type 1 diabetes research and advocacy organization formerly known as Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, or JDRF to ensure that the design of the doll truly captures the community. That includes accessories that accurately reflect the medical equipment people with Type 1 diabetes may need, the California-based company noted.

(4,086 posts)Even though I forbid my daughter to have Barbies, that was back when Barbies had impossible bodies.
I told her that when she looked like a Barbie, she could have one.
Since then they've redesign her and made her more inclusive and more community oriented rather than the extremely materialistic ideas of the Dream House and Dream Car. ( possibly, run-on sentence?)
Anyway, this will help so many children feel accepted and educate healthy children about conditions that one of their friends may have. It will help them understand what these children go through.
I say good on Mattel for this one.
