They've long since commandeered our political discourse. Even here, they e got us talking about this nonsense, whether or not comey threatened Donnie, instead or real issues like why tf are people accepting a fascist president in the first place and where are the calls for impeachment over his blatant grift and corruption and ignoring of the laws and the courts?

It does not mean literally "kill" or "assassinate." I think there was one DUer implying that - but I have never heard it used in that sense.
I have never understood it to be construed as a threat to a life.
