(49,763 posts)1. $69 shoes for $117.99
You are now a philanthropist

(14,857 posts)2. Considering they are made in sweatshops by workers making $1 per hour, they have plenty of profit margin left
Tariffs are based on the declared value of the goods, not retail selling cost

(49,763 posts)3. Value Added Tax would be far more accurate and an easier sell

(14,857 posts)4. Doesn't change the fact that the $69 shoes cost less than $5 to make

A 47% tariff means they cost Nike $6.90 a pair.
Still gives them a 1000% profit margin. I think they can still get by

in the United States ?
You think Nike is going to eat the tariffs and not raise prices?

(14,857 posts)8. I guess if 1000% profit margin isn't enough, they can gouge customers even more
They can charge whatever they like regardless of tariffs. Greed has no bounds
