This is an example of real cost of loss due to TSF.

In 2023, I sold my parents' home and put the nominal proceeds into reliable stocks with little risk.

I'm about to pay tax on the capital gains I made in 2024.

I'm also about to lose the value of those capital gains, perhaps some principle, not imminently, but in the future.

IOW, I'm paying taxes today on money that will soon be no longer in existence without my spending it and/or because of improvident economic theories such as tariffs.
