For anyone who buys toys this Christmas

Trump announces sweeping new tariffs to promote US manufacturing, risking inflation and trade wars

...

Basic Fun CEO Jay Foreman, whose company is behind such classic toys as Tonka trucks, Lincoln Logs and Care Bears, has been working hard to come up with new ways to cut tariff-related costs like reduce packaging and eliminate batteries with the products.

But Trump’s announcement that he plans a 34% increase in tariffs on Chinese imports has solidified his decision to hike prices. Most of the company’s toys are made in China. He said the Tonka Mighty Dump Truck will go from $29.99 to $39.99 this holiday season, possibly even $45.

“There is no other way,” he said.

1. Are there any desirable toys made in America under $49? But according to trumpsters, we'll all be rich by Xmas.

Remember, they were willing to "sacrifice Granny" to get the economy going again during covid.

At this point, I fucking hate them all.

8. No joke. I think $8 eggs are a thing of the past. Farmers/grocers will have to double the price to pay

for foreign toys. It’ll be like that for all products. Will be interesting to see how long trumpsters believe his lies when they can’t afford anything.

Many people won't be able to afford to buy. That in turn will hurt the companies as well as the consumers.

Less spending = less investment in existing jobs (aka layoffs) or expansion

Cutting federal funding for research , education, workers, etc = making the problem even worse

10. How about having a family project of making your own toys with the kids. They like pots and pans anyway.

Thake those iPhones out of tiny, tiny hands and have some real fun. Google the "How to make..." sites. Lots of free info there. Buy supplies now or clean up old pots and plastic tubs etc. For older family members, try to build model Teslas that work.
