1. The Republicans in congress. NEVER going to happen. They don't want to lose THEIR jobs while millions of Americans are losing theirs.
2. His supporters. Kool aid drinking morons and bigots AREN'T going to suddenly awaken to their own stupidity and turn on him.
3. The Judiciary Branch. Judges can rule against his policies but it has no teeth to enforce its rulings.
4. The military. They have traditionally stayed away from politics and are a last resort at best. There are many MAGA loyalists in their ranks.
5. You and I. The most effective and consistently proven method of defeating tyrants has always been the people.
Join a movement. Build a movement. Talk to neighbors and friends. Stand up before it is too late. This is our time.

(2,130 posts)If Trump solidifies the dictatorship he desires, your services will no longer be needed. You will be disposable.
Ponder that.

(4,172 posts)...boycotts of anything US. Already seeing the seeds with Indivisible's marches, special elections not going Trump's way, airlines cutting flights from Canada and probably soon EU and foreign countries rethinking whether they want to send money to the US for new weaponry, cloud computing on and on.

(2,162 posts)There is no remedy, no mechanism in the existing political, social and economic system that can stop Trump. We have been watching that play out over the last ten years. He relentlessly and systematically "tests the fences," probing for weaknesses and then he eventually breaks through every time. Barrier after barrier falls to the onslaught. It looks chaotic, and that leads people to underestimate the danger Trump poses.
Trump has unmasked an ugly truth about the country, a powerful and destructive evil core. We have tried to reform it, or deny it, or ignore it. We have put a happy face on it, we have reassured ourselves that it was changing and that things were improving, that there were checks and balances, that there was a stability and goodness in the country.
We told ourselves that the genocide against the pre-Colombian people, slavery, the Mexican War, the Confederacy, the massacres of Indians, African Americans, striking workers, Chinese workers, and LBGTQ people, Jim Crow, the installation and funding, training, and support for brutal police state regimes in Latin America and elsewhere - we told ourselves that those were anomalies, unfortunate and regrettable, yes, but not truly representative of the United States.
That's not us!
Trump said "oh yeah? We'll just see about that. Hold my beer."
There is no going back now, no restoring of the old system. Once and for all the murderous "pioneer" white settler circle-the-wagons kill-the-heathens hyper-masculine misogynist KKK project must be ended, utterly and thoroughly.

Also, it looks like he stopped using Ozempic--there was a clip the other day showing him to be bigger than ever. It's a mystery for the ages how this guy has survived so long.
