A mother and her three children were wrongfully detained by immigration enforcement agents in New York and taken to a detention facility in Texas, a nonprofit says as it calls for their release.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers detained the mother - whose birth country was not disclosed - and her kids, one of whom is in third grade, on March 27 while they were executing an arrest on a farm in Sackets Harbor, New York, according to the New York Immigration Coalition.
When ICE was executing an arrest on a farm, they also entered a different home on the property, without a judicial warrant, and detained the mother and her three children, the nonprofit said, noting that President Donald Trumps border czar Tom Homan lives in Sackets Harbor.
The family, who have not been publicly identified, have since been transported to ICEs Karnes County Detention Facility in Texas. Its not immediately clear why they were taken to Texas. The Independent has contacted ICE for more information.
It is horrifying that these children and their mother were snatched from their home and disappeared, Murad Awawdeh, president and CEO of the nonprofit, said in a statement. This egregious action in Tom Homans backyard is an affront to American values, and to humanity in general.

sins of this Maladministration done in our name. Do the fools who support this barbarism think they will be free of consequences?

The Jefferson County Democratic Party has planned a rally and a march by border czar Tom Homan's house in West Carthage on Saturday

On Thursday, ICE agents searched a farm in Sackets Harbor, about 10 miles from Watertown. Agents were there looking for Marcell Meyer, who was charged with possession of child pornography. In addition to his arrest, seven other people were taken to a nearby border patrol station and identified as "illegal aliens."
The superintendent of the Sackets Harbor Central School District, Jennifer Gaffney, said three of the people who were detained were students from her district. She called the incident "distressing."
"These are kids," Gaffney said. "They're classmates, they're good friends, they are wonderful students, and they are part of the fabric of our school community."
Gaffney told NBC5 that the school district has not had direct contact with the family since Thursday, but they have learned that the students were taken to a detention center in Texas. The district has attempted to work with local officials to inquire about their well-being and advocate for their return to school.
