"He gave them a reason to stand up and say, this is my country too."

Quote of the Day

“I want to emphasize what Cory Booker did over the last 24 hours may have changed the course of political history. I watched a lot of it. I listened to words. I listened to phrases. How he presents himself did criticize Donald Trump. Of course he did. But he struck the kind of tone that grassroots Democrats are looking for. He gave them a reason to fight. He gave them a reason to stand up and say, this is my country too. Of course, every Republican watching will say, this is nonsense.  But he is not speaking just to Republicans, he’s speaking to Americans, and what I saw over the last 25 hours absolutely blew me away. And just as you sometimes make projections or predictions, I’m gonna do one right here. That speech puts Cory Booker as one of the leaders for the Democratic Party for 2028.”

I, too, thought Booker's speech was inspiring. The Democratic party needs his passion and eloquence. sop Wednesday #2

I'd be interested to know how contributions to Booker are running after the speech. If it's significant it might encourage some other Dem senators to take the podium. It would be nice if they stand up out of courage and conviction but money can be a good motivator.

but i do know that he sent me a text yesterday asking for it.

at least i didn't block him, but i just don't have the $$ to start sending it to people running in 2026. Gotta know there's still a country by then.

Not to take anything away from Senator Booker's message, but Frank Luntz usually has a hidden agenda. The guy's job is to frame ideas and shape public opinion to benefit Republicans, not Democrats.

where they flashback to when he worked for a radio station and he was trying to stay awake on the air for 3 days or something. By the end, he was emotional and crying and a little nuts. Cory Booker made history and I so admire what he just did.

Didn't he run off to Australia or New Zealand after Trump was elected, whining the repub party had gone off the rails? With his help, of course. Pretty sure that happened.

Helluva compliment for Booker, though & I agree completely, that was leadership!!
