Australia donates 49 M1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine.
Ukraine’s government has expressed its “strongest gratitude” to Australia for its donation of 49 tanks to the nation’s military.
“The tanks provided by Australia, one of the largest allocations of tanks by any ally, are likely to be used by mechanised brigades of the ground forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) who are engaged along a 1400 long kilometre front – or the distance between Sydney and Adelaide.”
The donation, worth $245 million, will give Ukraine more M1 Abrams tanks to add to those it received from the United States and other countries, after months of requests for more Australian help.
