A refinement on my discovery of why so many support Trump.

A few days ago I started a thread about how lots of Trump supporters see him as an entertainer. They don't take him seriously and think people surrounding him will keep the government running well enough to cut taxes to the wealthy and kick out immigrants. Basically they're not troubled by his lies because what do you expect of an entertainer??

Now I've come to the conclusion that the reason they can not really care who holds the office of the presidency started back with Newt Gingrich. The federal government has increasingly become a laughing stock. Not worthy of taking it seriously.

Trump voters are less interested in Trump as a politician as they are in Trump as a spearhead for the infliction of pain on those they hate. They know Trump drives liberals crazy and that's great. That's what they want. They don't want policies. They don't want leadership. They want to hurt emotionally or physically mythical liberal strawman.

4. One other factor...

Some Murikans are just contrarians. Stubborn as well as stupid.

You can list trump's shortcomings, his crimes, his lack of character until you are blue in the face. All that just makes the herd love him more.....because it runs contrary to reason, and pisses off the libruls.

You can show them the numbers on health care and what Medicare for All would save, and they say (in other words, of course) that they would rather pay more and get shittier health care. Cuz....I dunno...Jesus...or something.
