1. regarding future debates:

i saw here on DU a few minutes ago Donnie doesn’t want any more debates…even on Fox.
To me, that seems like the best of all outcomes…

1) K agrees to his stipulations
2) She trounces him
3) He refuses any future debates
4) She gets to mock him for being afraid

just my off-the-cuff-layman-not-my-area-of-expertise opinion. feel free to disagree.

5. my idea/fantasy on the Walz-Vance debate:

Walz demands that the debate be held in a more “informal” format—sitting on a couch (one of those looong couches so they aren’t actually bumping elbows)

Vance shows up…and the couch is covered in one of those clear plastic coverings that many of our grandmothers used to have…for sanitary reasons, ya’ know.

3. He will get desperate and ask for another debate

I beleive this was as bad for him as June was for Biden and before the end of the month he'll be begging for a debate as a last gasp chance to change the race.

He doesn't want to ever be on stage with her again, that was the biggest ass kicking his ego ever took. But his people will be telling him he has no choice within a few weeks. And then she'll have all the power to dictate terms.

She's been very strategic here. Called for a 2nd debate after smoking him knowing that he'll not agree to one again right away because he's still smarting from the thrashing he took last night and his team will be spending several days doing damage control and seeing how bad this was for the polls for him. She gets to make him look like a chicekn first and then gets him to the table to beg for a debate that she can dictate the terms of and even make her terms something he can't accpet if she decides they don't want a debate at all again. Say she's up 10 points in a month and he decides he wants a debate, she can say that it will be on MSNBC with Rachel Maddow, take it or leave it.

We still need one more debate, this is early to mid September and with almost two months to go until the election he can just do a bunch of rallies, give a bunch of scripted interviews, and release a bunch of ads that make him look 'strong' and that might be enough to sway voters that didn't watch the debate or nearly forget about it come November.

The most important thing she can dictate is the date and we want the second debate to be close to the election so he doesn't have time to recover from his post debate slump and her post debate boost will be reaching it's zenith the day before and the day of the election. Timing it like that is impossible but we can go for close enough

What's funny is last night will likely be her 'worst' performance against Donald Trump, think of it as game one college football game, the most improvement happens between game one and game two, the next debate will send him out of center stage politics and relegate him as a sideshow at best
