What do you want to see tonight from a pro Biden standpoint?
I think we want both DeSantis and Haley to remain viable at least through SCarolina. I think it divides the GOP a little more that way.
So Im hoping tonight goes something like:
Trump 50%
DeSantis 26%
Haley 22%
Others. 4%

He will still win the nomination, but if he comes out with people smelling the real air, then we will be in good shape.

If he is convicted, there may be some billionaire maneuver to replace him. But I would guess only a ten percent chance of that.

(55,334 posts)Nikki Haley is the Republican best positioned to strike that faux Dubya Bush pose of "G-g-garsh, Mickey, I'm the candidate most likely to heal America's partisan divide" bullshit.
It may not fool you and it sure didn't fool me, but it did manage to fool just barely enough moderate ill-informed voters in 2000 to push GWB over the top (with some help from Rehnquist of course). DeSantis couldn't pull this off, but Nikki Haley is born to play this game.
And strap yourself in, she's a neocon and a union buster. She's the Republicans' best hope, our worst possible opponent, she's a Dick Cheney smart, and just amoral enough to get elected and continue our national drift towards decay and global climate change. Unfortunately she's also the Republican party's best chance of getting rid of Trumpism.
What a crappy century this is turning into
