We could use some of those buses right here in the USA.

These people are used to being sardined on public transportation which provides the perfect opportunity to perverts to grope people. To the point you may not be able to even know who is doing it or be able to move your arms to prevent it.

when I was in Jakarta. I took taxis everywhere, so public transport wasn’t on my radar.

What I did notice, though, and what the screen grab below (from the video originally posted) shows, is the absolute mad crush of motorbikes on the city streets at rush hour. And many of those motorbikes are rideshares! That’s the way many people get around, and there were almost as many women riders as men. I guess there’s less chance of getting groped by a guy driving a motorbike in that mess, than on a bus.

Various methods have been used over the years to combat groping, one of the most prominent ones being women-only train carriages, which were introduced in Tokyo in 2000.

A more recent prevention method is a smartphone application called Digi Police that was introduced by the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) in 2016.

The app has multiple functions aimed at ensuring citizen’s safety, including an anti-groping mode through which users can ask for help from people around them — even in situations where they are too scared to verbally speak up — by showing a screen with an SOS message on it.

An individual who notices something odd can also use their screen to silently ask a victim if they are OK. The app also receives notifications about crimes that have occurred in the local area, including groping cases.

This seems to be a wonderful idea. But, it also seems to fit nicely within the opinions of those, like Rowling and Navratilova, who advocate for women having a safe space. Are biological females on these pink buses going to feel as though their space has been invaded, if occupancy of the bus is not restricted to biological females? We need to find a way allow biological females to come to the conclusion that transwomen are within the group that, like them, that is deserving of protection.

I had no idea that Mexico had done anything about this HUGE problem.

I had my two little kids in hand, 7 and 9 when the guy behind me on this crowded, standing room only bus leaned in and was breathing heavily in my ear while he ground his erection on my backside. I had actually forgotten this until I saw this post. I put it away because there was not one single thing I could do, it was packed and I had to hold my kids and keep it together.

This makes me greatly happy right now. It is sad that it is needed but we deserve to be able to live our lives without these creeps.
