Anybody else remember the NOLA Katrina evacation nightmare in 2005?

The city itself had a population of about 455,000, Metro about 1.2mil (depending on which charts you use). And the residents had more than 24 hours of warning.

... was the mass transportation. Poor people had no way out and no place to go.

Didn't matter that there was 24 hours warning.

Evacuating people from New Orleans to 10 miles away would have been pretty smooth if they knew the hurricaine was only going to hit a very specific small section of the area and nowhere else. In New Orleans, people were having to evacuate hundreds of miles, in Palestinie, it's a 24 X 7 mile stretch of land, people have to walk at most a few hours to evacuate.

Hamas can end this anytime they want by releasing all hostages and relinquishing power, but they'd rather see their children die than do that.

and surrender, the ball is in their court and 24 hrs is ample time for a surrender.
The people of Gaza must leave now.

Elderly and poor with no way out. Roads completely blocked for miles. Nowhere to go. And this is in an area with good roads, buses, a government that cares (sort of).

Folks just trapped

Israel is still under attack 6 days later and people continue to say Israel can't take any action.
