What to watch for at the fall California GOP convention

ANAHEIM, Calif. —
The California GOP kicks off its convention in Anaheim on Friday. About 1,000 people are expected to attend what organizers say is the state party’s biggest convention ever.

Four Presidential candidates are scheduled to speak to voters and donors throughout the weekend as the party is set to debate a major decision. Here is what to watch for at this year’s convention.

Trump and the Republican race for president
The convention is set to start just days after a wide field of Republican presidential hopefuls debated in Simi Valley, an event that former President Donald Trump skipped.

The former president is scheduled to give a speech at the convention at noon on Friday.

Former President Trump to speak at GOP convention in Anaheim
The former president is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech.

ANAHEIM, Calif. - Former President Donald Trump is set to make an appearance Friday at the Anaheim Marriott for the GOP convention in Orange County. This event is met with resistance from local Democrats, who are planning a lively protest under the theme of the classic board game Monopoly, complete with signs, costumes, and festive spirit.

Five Democratic Party organizations from across Southern California are joining forces to voice their opposition to Trump's policies and actions. The San Bernardino County Democratic Party, Democratic Party of Orange County, Los Angeles County Democratic Party, California Young Democrats, and Grassroots Democrats HQ are all uniting against Trump's return to the political stage.

One of the key points of contention is Trump's economic legacy. His administration left office with nearly three million fewer jobs than when it began, marking the first time this has happened since the Great Depression. Democrats argue that Trump's economic policies favored big corporations at the expense of the middle class and had a detrimental impact on autoworkers, ultimately leading to job losses and the outsourcing of employment opportunities.

Praises Mayor Tony Strickland of Huntington Beach.

8. Trump just said something about "child sexual mutilation" targeting transgender kids I think.

Says "help is on it's way" to California.

Claims CA is under "communist rule."

Makes fun of Nancy Pelosi's husband. Says she has a wall around her home, but didn't want one with Mexico.

Now on to attacking Kamala Harris and Gavin Newsom who get big boos.

Says CA isn't "wonderful" - calls out Maxine Waters and says she's violent. Mocks the idea that he started an insurrection.

Attacks Swalwell and Adam Schiff. Calls him a pencil neck. "Shifty Schiff."

9. Trump claims you have to wear a sign with your information to get into the DNC Convention...

Calls Democrats cheaters says they don't want Voter ID.

Trump claims that California is a "dumping ground."

"Prisoners, terrorists, mental patients x10"

Trump brings up his golf club in Palos Verdes. Say's it's the best golf club in CA.

Complains about the cost of watering his golf course. Says CA has "so much water."

Complains about the taxes in CA. Praises Devin Nunes for leading Truth social.

10. Trump says he's for desalination.

Claims there's a massive valve in Northern California keeping water from coming to Southern California.

Trump says he feels sorry for rich people in Beverly Hills have to hurry up while taking showers and that's why "they don't smell so good." Trump says this is because they are paying too much taxes on water.

Trump says he wants to work hard on his hair and thought the pipes were broken in CA and can't wash his hands.

"$35 million dollar house and you can't take a shower."

11. Trump says that because of the "Delta Smelt" we can't get water in SoCal.

Wants Harmeet Dillon to sue over environmental protections.

Trump says "we're going to have so much water, we wouldn't know what to do with it."

Trump claims that people would drown because he was going to send so much water.

Blames Gavin Newsom for stalling his water plan over the Delta Smelt.

Trump says he got $28 billion dollars from China for farmers.

...jokes that he's a "Manchurian Candidate."

Trump goes back to water, and says that we need to "dampen our forests" with overflow water to stop wildfires.

Trump says CA has bad land management. Claims he talked with someone from Austria about it. References his raking the forest remarks drolls on about dampening the forest floors. Claims he couldn't convince Gavin Newsom.

References Newsom's interview with Sean Hannity. Claims he's a "person of common sense."

Trump turns to COVID and says that when he left the stock market was higher than when he came in. Claims the Biden economy is "running on the fumes of Trump."

Goes to gas prices. Crowd gets angry and roars. "$8 gasoline." Claims prices were being kept artificially low using the strategic oil reserves. Says he had it filled up. Says Gavin Newsom is "crooked Joe Biden's top surrogate."

13. Trump contrasts himself with Al Capone on indictments.

Trump says CA has ridiculous car rules. Says cars are going to be made in China and not in Michigan.

Trump says he will save the auto industry. Says he has no problem with electric cars. Jokes you can "drive for 14 minutes to the candy store." Makes fun of the idea of electric powered tanks and jet fighters. Makes some sound effects for that one.

Trump says the military will bomb countries but at least he's not leaving a bad environmental footprint.

Trump says he's going off-script. Talks about the trucking industry and supply chain before pivoting back to the borders.

Trump compares himself to an "angel" for the trucking industry. Claims electric trucks will be slow like golf carts.
